Fun with the G'parents!
Zane and Landon spent last Thursday-Saturday with Josh's parents over in Gig Harbor! I just received an email full of adorable pictures of my little boys from their stay, so I just had to post them of course! Thanks for watching the boys, I can see they had a great time!

Rockin' Out
Zane's newest trick is to "sing" about anything he can think of, it totally cracks me up! I tried to get a video of him "rockin' out" about Kentucky Fried Chickeen last weekend when we were driving home from camping, but it was hard to be "secretive" about it. I'll work on getting more secretive footage, but for now this will have to do!
7 Months Old
Landon,
SEVEN months old?!? Are you serious?!? There are days that I just cannot believe that you are seven months old and that you are more than half way through your first year, then there are days that I wonder how I've survived these first seven months!! You are such a happy baby when you want to be, but really do have a very strong need (hate to call you needy since you are a baby and you're supposed to be) to have someone with you or paying attention to you at all times! If you are left alone in the living room while I walk to the kitchen (even though I can still see you), you let me know that you are NOT ok with it! Its not that you just want your mommy with you, its just that you want someone, anyone with you! Thank the Lord you have a very patient big brother who wants nothing more than to be with you any chance he can! Zane is my saving grace most of the time! I know there will come a day when he doesn't want to hear me say "please go entertain your brother" or "can you go make your brother happy please" and when that day comes...it will be the day you my little one will need to learn how to entertain yourself and self-soothe!
Don't get me wrong kiddo, you are an absolute joy to be around and I would love to spend every minute (ok, maybe not every minute) with you, but that's just not feasible. Your smile can make any day I've had turn into the best day. Its getting so easy to make you smile, sometimes I just have to make eye contact with you and you show me those beautiful gums!
Those two pesky little bottom teeth are still trying so hard to come in...I can see the little humps they've made in your gums, but the little buggers are just taking their sweet time cutting through! I am so sorry for that honey, I can only imagine how bad that hurts! I'm glad that your fingers and toys seem to help relieve some of that pain.
When you aren't chewing on your toys or your fingers, we can usually find you playing with your toes! I'm sure you wish that you could chew on those as well and honestly, if your buddha belly wasn't in the way, you probably could! You sure do love those little feet of yours and I can't blame you, they are pretty stinkin' cute! I'm not sure what it is about your little baby feet, but I'm crazy about them!
You are developing quite an interest in toys with wheels, you are making your daddy proud already! Someone even sent me a picture of you playing with a pink Barbie car the other day, its obvious you aren't picky about which vehicle you are given to play with, just as long as it has wheels!
There is one thing that I believe you love more than toys, your toes, chewing on your fingers, watching your brother play, having someone right by you...and that is FOOD! You are so different from how your big brother was as a baby in regards to your eating habits and it just thrills me! You are willing to try anything and so far you have liked everything! Your newest favorite snack foods are Puffs and Yogurt Melts! Those little finger foods keep you very happy while I'm trying to make dinner for everyone! I'll be happy when you develop the dexterity to pick them up and feed them to yourself, but for now, we don't mind shoveling them in for you!
You don't really have any new tricks this month, other than the fact you are sitting up really well now. Occasionally, your round bottom gets the best of you and you topple over, but for the most part you are sitting up very well and pulling toys in and out of your little box of toys. We are still working on your tummy time and your rolling over - I have a feeling you are going to be a very late crawler and to be honest...I am ok with that! I am not looking forward to you being mobile! Just the other day I saw a dime on the floor and walked past it MANY times before it hit me that I need to get into a better habit of picking stuff like that up because the day will come when you will mosey yourself right over to that dime and try to make it lunch! Just so you know, that dime has since been picked up, so you'll have to find something else to try and munch on! You have moved up into a big-boy car-seat now (still rear-facing of course), so that's pretty cool! Cool, until you are sound asleep in it and I have to wake you to put you in a shopping cart because I can't just stick your seat on top anymore! You are still a fabulous sleeper and becoming a much better napper and for that, we are all grateful! You are so beautiful when you are sleeping, I just can't get over what an angel you look like.
Landon, the past seven months have been a very happy challenge for me, you really do complete this family and I cannot imagine life without you in it! I'm very grateful that God chose me to be your mommy!

Early Anniversary Dinner-double date style!
On Friday Josh's parents had the boys all night, so we took it upon ourselves to have a night out! Since our anniversary is this week, we opted to call this our early anniversary dinner and opted to invite another couple along with us, haha! We headed out to Novilhos in Factoria for dinner, DE-LIC-IOUS (if you've never been to a Brazilian restaurant like this, I highly suggest you go to one)! Very cool restaurant with some amazing food, it was very difficult to stop eating (its all you can eat), but we got to the point where none of us could barely move! After dinner, we headed out to go see Crazy. Stupid. Love, pretty cute movie! Josh and I didn't get home until 12:30 a.m., the reason I put that in here, is because anyone who knows me, knows that I 99% of the time, I'm in bed before 10 every night, so this is going to show that it is possible for me to stay up later! Its a good thing we didn't have the boys in the morning, because mama needed to sleep in!
Play-date with Luke
I took last Wednesday off as a vacation day and spent the day with my boys! We headed over to my good friend Karena's house to have a little play-date with her little boy Luke! The boys all had a ball. I'm so glad the sun decided to show up (it was a little shy in the early morning), so could have a little fun outside! Thanks for having us over Naylor (you know that's what you'll always be to me)!

Endo Follow-Up & Pump Demo
Zane had his regular follow-up appointment with his Endocronologist today at Children's and it went really well. As you may have read in an earlier post, Zane is no longer in the honeymoon phase of his Type 1 diagnosis and with coming out of the honeymoon and trying to adjust his insulin doses just right we ran into quite a few high blood sugars over the last two months, so I was really worried about what his A1C would be. At his last appointment his A1C was a glorious 6.9, an absolutely fabulous #! I knew this one wouldn't be as good, but I was hoping it wouldn't be too bad and thankfully it wasn't too terrible! His current A1C is 7.9! I wasn't thrilled about that number at first as I really do take that number personally (since Josh and I are the ones who manage of diabetes), but then his doc explained that it was a good # and that it is well within the range that they want a kiddo his age to be in, so it made me feel a tad bit better! Also a good nurse friend of mine at work who happens to be a diabetes educator explained to me that that is only a 30 point difference in his average of blood sugars from his last score and with the huge highs we saw here and there a 30 point difference in the average really isn't bad at all! Of course I am going to make it my personal mission to get that number back down to the very low 7's and that may be a little ambitious seeing as how we really are still learning, but I am going to do my best!
At Zane's appointment I asked about doing an Omnipod demo just to see if Zane could handle the bulkiness of it and to see what he thought about having it strapped to him 24/7. The nurse asked Zane where he wanted it and he proudly said "my arm, so everyone can see it", haha! He is very proud of it and has asked me all day today if he can show whoever it is we are with at the time! One thing we like about this pump aside from the fact its wireless (huge bonus to me) is that its 100% waterproof, most pumps you have to disconnect before getting in the bath or pool. Of course all of the other pumps out there are wonderful as well and just like the Omnipod they have pros and cons too. We are a ways off from actually getting a pump if we decide to do it, but at least we are taking the small step in the right direction. Insurance coverage for these puppies is not the greatest out there. Don't get me wrong...our insurance (and I've asked around and it seems to be the norm w/all insurance companies) covers 80% which sounds good in theory. This pump would cost us around $60/mo which isn't terrible, but we already spend almost $60 a month in co-pays on his insulin and test strips as is, so the additional $60 is a lot to take in! A pump is a luxury and not a necessity, so we'll see how the little guy likes it and go from there!
I'm so proud of Zane and how well he has taken on this new part of his life and I know that in the years to come there will be times where he may rebel and have some personal issues with it, but I really do hope that he always stays proud of who he is and proud of what is his life. Josh and I are doing the best we can to pave the road for him and we pray to God that he follows it! I've said this before and I'll say it again...this diagnosis is life defining, but it does not define who he is...he is still Zane!

After we got home from camping on Sunday, Josh and Zane headed out in the kayak for a bit to take advantage of the nice weather! I'm so happy Josh remembered to take a few pictures (guess he's learned how important they are to me)!
One Fish, Two Fish
Zane started his 2nd session of swim lessons for the summer last night and Landon started his 1st ever session of swim lessons! I'm so thankful for my wonderful husband who was actually excited about getting into the pool with Landon for his lessons! I did it with Zane when he was little and even though I knew it was good for him, I didn't exactly love it! I think part of Josh's excitement is the fact a good friend of his (Matt) and his son (Max) are in the class too! Whatever works, I'm just glad its him and not me! Anyways, back to the lessons...Landon did wonderful, he is such a water baby, I really wasn't expecting anything less, but it was nice to see it actually be true! Zane did great as well...still not thrilled about the whole face in the water thing, but we'll continue to work on that!
