Sunglasses.

Welcome back summer, you have been missed!

I'm not sure where you like to wear your sunglasses, but Zane prefers that his are worn around his neck! He will keep them like this for an entire car ride...no matter how many times I attempt to move them up to his eyes, he takes them right down to his neck.

Memorial Day Weekend 2009.

What a great 3-day weekend we had! We didn't have any major plans, just hung out and took full advantage of the great weather & family around us and just relaxed!

Saturday, May 23.

Zane enjoyed his first Frosty from Wendy's!!

Zane riding his trike outside...still can't quite reach the pedals.

Mommy & Zane both got haircuts!

Sunday, May 24.

We went to my grandma's in the morning for a little walk...Zane got the pleasure of taking a ride on grandma's wheels!

Sitting on the donkey at the park!

Monday, May 25.

We decided to host a BBQ this Memorial Day and weren't expecting too many people since most people high-tail it out of town to go camping and such. We were wrong...we had quite a few friend show up and it was a ton of fun! The one downer...about 2 hours before people were due to arrive, Josh went to fire up the BBQ to just make sure everything was working properly (something we don't normally do, but glad we did this time)...the darn thing was dead. Not out of propane, just out on account of old age. We were frantic...what were we going to do. Well, Josh did what any guy would do...he dashed down to Sears and bought us a new grill! Now came the task to assemble it before people arrived...he got it done with about 15 minutes to spare and even had time to shower (phew)! It works great I must admit! Josh also picked up a bubble machine for Zane and his buddies while he was out...great find dad!

Assembling the new BBQ!

Proud of his work!

Friends chatting while feasting on some delicious BBQ'd food!

Zane just looking cute as always :)

Loving the bubble machine!

Now back to work tomorrow :(

Beat the Bridge 2009.

Zane and I took part in the Beat the Bridge walk again this year and again we were blessed with beautiful weather! Zane didn't want to sit in his stroller for the entire 4 miles this year so that was more of a challenge for me when I had to carry him! He did manage to keep content in the stroller for at least 1/2 of the walk, so it worked out in the end. Zane was signed up to do the Diaper Derby, but it was nowhere near starting on time and we had to be somewhere that afternoon so I had to make the call to skip it. I am sure glad I did because traffic getting out of the U district was horrendous and I can only imagine how much worse it would've been if we would've waited longer! It was a fun trek and I'm sure we'll be back to do it again next year!

Sesame Street!

Today we headed up to Everett to watch Sesame Street Live with Christina & Brooklyn! It was SO much fun! The kids had a blast and they did so well through the 90 min show! When I heard it was going to be 90 mins long I cringed, I could not see either of the kids (especially Zane) sitting in a seat for that long no matter who was dancing around on stage! They did it though, they actually sat and watched the whole show and I think they both really enjoyed it (I know us mom's did)!

We got there early, so the kids just took over the place and ran wild to burn off a little energy!

I think he likes it!!

Hugs!

Happy Boy!

Zane is on the mend and I couldn't be happier! The antibiotics are giving him some pretty nasty GI side effects, but other than that he's doing great! He has more energy and is getting into mischief and both are great signs!

Mother's Day Wknd.

What an eventful weekend we had and by eventful, unfortunately I do not me all "fun" events. Zane came down with a croup sort of cough last Thursday, so we started the inhalers and such like we are supposed to. By Saturday evening he was a lot worse, non-stop coughing, fever, rapid breathing etc. We managed to have a little fun on Saturday before he got really bad and headed to the Woodland Park Zoo for Mom & Me, but because the little guy wasn't doing so hot, we only stayed about 45 mins.

After the zoo, we headed home where things progressively got worse for him. We started counting his breadths per minute and he was between 51-55 and normal for his age is 30-40. He finally fell asleep around 7 p.m. I called the consulting nurse who advised us to take him into urgent care due to his symptoms and due to the fact they always tell you to take them in because what kind of triage can they really do over the phone??!!! I went up to check on Zane again and he seemed to be doing much better, his breadths were down to 40 and he wasn't coughing as much, so I opted not to take him. Josh insisted that we do because it was "better safe than sorry" and I agreed. So we headed to urgent care. Here we were for the next 6 hours, oh what fun!

Of course after we got to UC he was still a lot better...no temp, not a lot of coughing and breathing normal. I was almost embarrassed that we were there. By the time we got admitted into one of their rooms, he again had taken a turn for the worse which made me less embarrassed for being there. They checked his temp and he was at 103 and breathing rapidly again, very listless. We did 2 nebulizer treatments on him and he enjoyed a popsicle to try and lower that fever! He didn't enjoy the breathing tx too much, but sure enjoyed the popsicle treat! The doc then ordered a chest x-ray where it was discovered that he has "very impressive" pneumonia ("very impressive" per the doc, I'd never call pneumonia "impressive"). I was shocked. He just had pneumonia a month or so ago and these were not the same symptoms as last time. The doc wanted to keep Zane all night for observation (it was already midnight at this point). I fought that and said we really just wanted to go home. She said that should be ok, but they wanted to give him a couple injections of some antibiotic first and observe that he has no reactions from that and then we can head home. He got the injections around 1:15 a.m. and after going to pharmacy to pick up his oral meds and getting checked out, we were home by about 2:30 a.m. Happy Mother's Day to me!!

Josh and I were supposed to go to The Sounders game on Sunday, but those plans quickly changed when Zane started to throw up his oral meds Sunday morning. So we stayed home with the little guy where he slept almost all day and wouldn't let me put him down for 2 seconds to even go to the bathroom. We can't get him to eat anything, so its a challenge to keep his meds down. We were able to keep 2 doses down yesterday and am hoping more doses today. The fever fluctuated between 100-101 yesterday, so that was better than the day before. Today (Monday), I have taken the day off because we need to follow up with his regular pediatrician and of course he can't go to daycare feeling this ill. Now, I'm just waiting for 8 a.m., so I can call for an appt!

Cute.

My friends Christina & Krissy was over for dinner of couple weeks ago and Krissy took some super cute pictures of Zane while we were playing outside. Somehow I can never get him to look at the camera, but he looked right at it for her!

Gettin' some love from Brooklyn!

Am I in the way?

Hey dad, were you trying to look at something?

Craig's List Find!

Josh and I had been looking at a certain Kelty Child Carrier pack to get for Zane to hopefully get out and do some hiking this summer, but this pack is about $200. I would look on Craig's List quite frequently and find a ton of Kelty packs, but not the specific one we knew we wanted...that was until Monday that is! I found it...emailed the gal and wa-la its ours! We scored and got this thing for only $50!!! Zane likes it so far (as far as being toted around the living room that is)!

Attacking the cat.

As soon as we got home from work the other night, Zane headed right for Max. It was so funny to watch...Zane would run and "attack" Max and then Max would get away, Zane would laugh, get up and run and "attack" again and this played over and over like a broken record! Fun to watch though!

Lookin' good!

I found this adorable outfit for Zane at the consignment sale I went to last weekend...the whole thing cost $7! I think its one of the cutest outfits he owns...and yes the jeans are distressed so they are supposed to look like they have holes about to rip in them!
