Play Date

Zane had his first playdate a few weeks ago with his little friend Bashir. Bashir's parents were in the same child birthing class as Josh and I. Bashir was born about 3 weeks earlier (but look how close they are in size). Bashir's mom sent me some photos of that night and I'd thought I'd put them up.
I love this photo, its like you can tell what they are thinking. Zane's thinking "how many times do I have to tell you people, I'm tired and want to go home", Bashir is thinking "dude what's your problem we are up past our bed times, what is more cool than that"!!!

Zane's thinking "I am so done with getting my picture taken", Bashir is thinking "Dude, I'm smiling, I love getting my picture taken"!

4 MONTHS OLD

I cannot believe that Zane is 4 mos old already. Where has the time gone? He has changed so much over the months and is still developing that unique personality. The kid can go from 0-60 in about .5 seconds! He will be happy and laughing and instantly turn on the tears! I guess he is learning already how to cry to get his way huh! We had his 4 mos well-child visit yesterday and it went well. We are still fighting the baby Excema and Cradle Cap, but hopefully he will grow out of both soon. Zane had to get 4 shots yesterday as well. Poor kid, I must say though, he has one of the fastest recovery times I've ever seen. He went from screaming to smiling in a matter of seconds after getting the shots! I think his legs are a little sore today though. He woke up at 3 a.m. not so happy! I was too lazy to go downstairs to get the Tylenol, but apparently me rocking him back to sleep worked just as good as Tylenol!!

Here are his stats:
18 lbs 10 oz (98th percentile)
26.25 inches (92nd percentile)

Also, attached are a couple pictures of him from yesterday, I am showing you how he can turn on the tears within the time it takes my camera to reset from taking a smiling picture of him!!
Ahh, how I love this boy!

A Few Firsts...

Zane had a few firsts this last week. He road in a swing for the first time! I pulled up to daycare and walked in and one little girl greeted me and said very excitedly "Zane's outside in the swing". I went out and sure enough he was bundled up and almost asleep in a swing that daycare purchased just for him! I was amazed that he liked it since he HATED the swing in the house at home, so much, I've already gotten rid of it! He does love the fresh air though, so maybe that's the difference!

He also road in his stroller without the carseat for the first time this last weekend. We went down to the Home Show and decided to give it a whirl! He did GREAT! About an hour into it, he was done sitting though, so I put him in the Baby Bjorn and daddy pushed around an empty stroller! Man, this kid is getting too heavy for the Bjorn, but I kept reminding myself of the calories I was burning!

I am adding one more picture to this posting, its not a first, but a cute one! Zane and Josh are currently both passed out on the bed! Zane has a cold coming on and is not a happy camper today. He won't eat and won't sleep. I went to the grocery store and Josh held down the fort. He said that he screamed the whole time I was gone and then they both laid down and both fell asleep...I guess they both needed a nap! Quiet time for mommy!!!

Gerber Baby Perhaps?

Our good friend Joe is an AWESOME photographer to say the very least. Every time he is over on this side of the mountains he does a "photo shoot" of Zane for us. He does such an awesome job. I can't say enough good things about him. Here are a couple of my favorites (hard to choose a few from 70 pictures)!

The Thumb Has Been Found!

Well, my worst fears came to reality the other night. Zane has found his thumb. Thankfully, he doesn't seem to be too attached to it! This posting is in no offense to any of you out there who used to be (or are closet) thumb suckers, but you of all people would know how hard of a habit it would be to break! Worst than a binky! At least with a binky, you can throw them all away...can't exactly legally throw their thumbs away!! As much as I hope he does not end up a thumb sucker, it was still a cute site to see! Take a look for yourself!

Happy Valentine's Day

Zane enjoyed his first Valentine's Day yesterday! He is such a love bug!
The outfit choices for boys is slim, but we found a cute V-Day outfit for him that says "Born to Break Hearts"! Yes he was! I am more fond of the onsie he had underneath though! Take a peak!

LOVE Craigs List!

So last week we went to a friend's house and they have a baby who is about 3 weeks older than Zane. It was great because Zane was able to experience new toys that we don't have! Zane absolutely loved their playmat. He was content to play on it for a long time. I looked into purchasing one for him at Baby's R Us...it was a whopping $59.99. Now, I'm not saying my baby isn't worth that, but for a playmat are you kidding me? I mean, it is sort of my built in babysitter and I guess I'd have to pay top dollar for a babysitter...but that one better be human and I can leave the house! So I searched Craigs List and found the exact same play mat for $15.00!!! SCORE! I picked it up the next day. He loves it! I have never bought anything off Craigs List before, I think this might be a small addiction in the works!!

Baby Talk

Well, I finally captured Zane's baby talk on video. The only problem is I can't figure out how to make the file small enough to upload onto my blog. SOOO, I uploaded it onto You Tube and you can click on the link here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fz8gBevDN6A and watch it for yourself. Its only a minute long. If anyone out there knows how I can make the file size smaller to actually post on my blog I'd love to know! Anyway, enjoy watching my baby chat away!!

Digital Scrapbooking

So today is my last day off of work with the lil' man before I head back full time. Its a bitter-sweet day. I miss him so much when I'm working, I can't imagine going 5 days a week (I have been only going between 3-4 days a week). Thankfully, his daycare is only about 3 minutes from my work so I'm close by if I need a "fix" or if he needs me. I do enjoy my "adult" time with folks at work, but man, missing his smiles all day just hurts my heart.

While he was napping today I created my first digital scrapbook. Its a book of his first 3 months of life. I have been doing "paper" scrapbooking for a few years now, but am quickly realizing I do not have the time to do it anymore, not to make it look nice anyway. So, I have decided for now to make the switch over to digital scrapping. If you'd like to take a look at my first book, please click (or copy and paste) the link below and then click on "view book":
share.shutterfly.com/action/welcome?sid=2AcMmLZi4aMnEQ
When I add up how much I spend on scrapbooking supplies and the time I lose from Zane to do it, it is MUCH cheaper to go this route! I hope you enjoy it!

Jumparoo!

Zane's uncle Isaac bought him a Rainforest Jumper and we finally got around to putting it together! We couldn't wait to put him in it last night. He wasn't too sure of it at first, but with a little coaxing from daddy, he got the hang of it. He's still a little short for it, but we manage! As you will see from the pictures, as cool as the toy is...his hands/arms are more fun to play with...or eat!

Officially 3 mos old!

Zane is officially 3 mos old and he is getting to be more fun everyday. I do miss his days of being more snuggly, but I am enjoying his personality a lot more now. He is so much fun and so animated. At 3 mos he weighs in around 17 lbs and is over 2 feet tall! I don't have the exact measurements, but hope to get some soon. He is starting to talk like crazy...ok, most of you would call it "cooing", but I call it talking! He always seems to have so much to say...I wonder where he gets that! At 3 mos we have officially stopped swaddling him at night. I thought this would be a recipe for disaster; having him getting up all night again...but so far so good. Its only been 2 nights, but he's done great. At 3 mos he is also very interested in eating his hands! Its so fun to watch him watch his hands move in front of his face and then bring them to his mouth. I was afraid he would find his thumb, but so far so good...he tucks it in under his fingers and just sucks away on his fists! Here are a few pictures of him eating his hands as well as of one of his favorite nighttime routines...bath time!
