All dressed up and...

We actually had somewhere to go! We had a formal event at Josh's work tonight to we dropped Zane off at my good friend Christina's house and away we went. It was a nice chance to get away!

Afterwards, we picked up Zane and headed to IHop where he enjoyed his first bites of eggs and he loved them (yeah, for people food). He also enjoyed himself some pancakes too!!

Full Speed Ahead!

We flipped Zane's carseat around this weekend, he seems to really like it! We are a few days shy of his 1st birthday, but he is well over the weight requirement and so we figured why not...what difference is a few days going to make! His poor legs were crammed into the back of the seat before and that can't be safe, so flipped around he went! One big thing I notice is how his voice carries now...now that it is projecting straight ahead instead of being muffled by the backseat! I love to hear him "sing" to the songs on the radio though, so I am all for his un-muffled voice!!

Our big boy!!

Playdate at the play place!

Zane and I met up with our friends Neimeh and Bashir again last Thursday. Bellevue Square has a brand new play place on their new 3rd floor, the boys had a blast! I can tell Zane is getting older and hitting that more of a "toddler" stage because he actually comes close to throwing a temper tantrum now when I take him away from something he is enjoying. Just a couple of months ago I could take him away from something he liked and put him in his stroller and it wouldn't phase him...now he throws a fit and thrusts his body to make it almost impossible to get him to sit in his stroller and buckle him in. Oh what fun lies ahead!

PUMPKINS!!

We had our first adventure to the pumpkin patch today!! Zane loved walking around and touching every pumpkin he could! I think it was my first time to the patch too (maybe I went as a kid and don't remember), so it was exciting for me too!!! Oh and you will be able to see from the pictures Zane was refusing to look at the camera...oh how excited I am to be in that phase of his life!

Welcome Fall!!!

Where's my baby?

Zane had his haircut again today (3rd time already...this kid has more hair than me). The kid would not sit still to let the lady cut it with scissors so she pulled out plan B...the clippers! Its so short. The length of it doesn't bother me, its just that he looks so much like a little boy now and not a baby. I guess he will be 1 soon, but it makes me so sad to stare at him and not see the little baby I was so anxiously awaiting this time last year, but to see a grown up little boy. I am so happy he is growing up healthy and is happy and thriving, but it doesn't make me not miss my baby!

Fun with a friend.

Zane and I had dinner again with our friends Neimeh and Bashir and afterwards we strolled the mall!

Looking for some supplements at GNC!

Party Time!

We went to Zane's friend Kennedi's 2nd birthday today! They had a bouncy house so that was a fun treat for Zane!

Going in for the kiss!

Enjoying the bouncy house

More bouncy time!

Finally up on his feet, but only for a split second!

Sucker.

Zane has learned how to suck out of a straw...I don't know why, but this was pretty exciting to me!!

Good job buddy!!

Date Night!

Josh and I were finally able to have a night out just the two of us. We went to a movie and dinner...exciting times!! Its funny how Zane wasn't with us yet we did stuff with him in mind anyway. We had some time to kill before the movie so walked the mall a bit. The first store we went into was a toy store...probably more so because my husband is a big kid, but of course we found stuff we liked for Zane. The 2nd store we went into was Borders and Josh instantly walked right to the kids books too look. Kind of made me laugh...I guess even when the kids aren't around we still do "kid stuff"! Thanks Jen for watching the little man!!

New mom seeking old tricks...

So the doctor has been encouraging us to get Zane started on more "people" food and not so much baby food. The kid only has 2 teeth so there's only so much he can eat of "people" food. Anyway, we have been trying tiny pieces of everything under the sun and the kid spits it out everytime. I know its not a taste preference because if I grind it up in the food processor he'll eat it, but as soon as you put a "chunk" of something in his mouth he spits it right out. I'm sure its a texture thing, but seriously how do we get past this? Will he grow out of it? I don't want to be making/buying baby food for the next 5 years. I have heard that "its normal", then I hear people say "weird, I've never heard of that"...ugh. If anyone has any tricks on how to get past this texture issue we are having I'd greatly appreciate it. Also, I'd love hear that this is "normal" and he'll grow out of it from someone who has experienced it with their kids.

Here he is today after throwing a fit when he didn't want anymore "ground up" ravioli.

Taking a ride...

Zane rode his first coin operated rides today. He really seemed to like them. Pretty fun treat for a "sick day"!

What a day...

Zane has been fighting a cold since Saturday night. It started out with just a runny nose, then we added on the croup cough and this morning we had a whole new ailment to add to the list. He woke up at 4:30 and wouldn't go back to sleep and didn't want a bottle. I finally got him up with me around 5:15. I had to get lunches made and other stuff together before work so I let him play or "relax". He kept wanting to go back to sleep, but would start coughing or figit or something and couldn't get comfortable. I was holding him and was listening to him and realized he was wheezing and I could feel rattle in his back. Off to the doctor we went today! Zane has Bronchiolitis. We had the joy of getting a breathing treatment done in the office and even got to pick up our own kit to bring home and do...fun! NOT!!! He was not having it...I don't blame him, to be pinned down by your mom and have steam blown in your face cannot be a fun experience. So every 4 hours if he seems to be wheezing we have to give him a mini-treatment at home. I haven't had the experience of that yet...that will be after nap time! Once the cold/wheezing goes away the doc said we can tuck away our treatment and bring it out again the next time it starts up! WHAT, there's a next time? The doc said this maybe a one time thing or it maybe an "everytime he gets a bad cold thing". Oh joy!

Trying to sleep this morning while I was getting things ready for the day.

Playing with the chair while waiting for the doctor.

"Playing" with the new home breathing treatment kit. They say to let him play with it and it won't be so scary when you go to do it...not sure I'm buying that.

Trying it on for size!

Kinda funny...at least to me it was.

Last night, Zane was walking around the living room which looked like it had just been hit with a toy explosion when he picked up a hat. This hat was picked up by his foot though...he dragged it around the house while walking, it was really funny. Ok, so to me it was, he didn't find it too funny!

Being teased.

Here daddy is letting Zane help play video games...

Here is Zane after daddy says he doesn't need help anymore.

Poor buddy.

Zane has a really bad cold...or maybe its that he's teething in disguise. Either way, he had a crummy day today. He wouldn't nap and was really fussy. I'm really hoping tonight isn't more of the same...but I can't be so sure of that. It may be a really long night...

Here he is today just chillin' and drinking some water.

Accidents happen...right?

Yesterday evening Zane and I were upstairs and he was playing in his room (so I thought) while I was being such an observant mother by checking my email. I heard him playing and then apparently tuned him out. All of a sudden I heard "thud, thud, thud" and then a loud scream. Yep, you guessed it, he fell down our flight of stairs, from top to bottom is 14 long steps. My heart skipped about two beats I think. I flew down the stairs in probably 2 steps and picked his screaming body up off the floor. The sound of him falling/crying and the sight of him laying at the bottom is one I hope nobody ever experiences in their lifetime as parents. The worst part of this whole ordeal is we have a baby gate at the top of the stairs that I so conveniently neglected to close when we came up. I was attentive enough to close all of the doors (except his room and the room I was in) up here so he didn't get into any trouble. Thank GOD he is alright, just a bruise on his forehead (see pictures below) and nothing else. He had a very quick recovery, was playing again about 5 mins after the ordeal...I on the other hand still haven't recovered.

The bruise is on his left side above his eyebrow.
