Nine Month Stats

Zane is officially 9 mos old, I can hardly believe it to be honest. I remember people telling me that time will fly by and that they grow up so fast and I think there was a part of me that didn't (or didn't want to) believe those people. I'm here to report those people were right on the money. He is as old as how long I was pregnant with him, crazy to think it that way!

Anyway, he is thriving at 9 mos! Zane is crawling all over, standing un-assisted at times, sleeping through the night for the most part, popping new teeth and all in all a rather happy baby.

Here are his all important stats for the month:
30.25 inches tall 95%
23 lbs 4 oz 87%
19 inch head circumference 98%

The doctor today said that he was "perfect" and I couldn't agree with her more.

1st Haircut

Zane had his first haircut today and aside from it being dinner time and the fact he had just sat in the car for an hour in traffic I think he did a pretty good job. I had to hold him, so unfortunately didn't get any shots of his hair being cut, but I did get a before and after. I can't believe how much one little haircut makes him look so grown up :(

Before (not looking so sure about it):

After (and much happier):

Movin' up...

Zane has mastered climbing our stairs! Ut oh is right, we don't even have a baby gate (talk about behind in the times parents)! Josh ordered two of them online tonight (supposedly special certified gates for stairs...whatever) anyway, they should be here in a few days! For now, we just stand behind him on his journey up. He is adorable when he gets to the top because you can tell he is so proud of himself. Its not so adorable when half way up he tries to turn around and look at you...

Shoes are a great incentive to get him crawling up...this means I have to actually put my shoes away where they go...ugh!

Some kids' parents!

On Tuesday of this week my daycare provider called me freaking out because she thought another kid there had head lice. I came to pick up Zane shortly after her call and inspected the kids head and sure enough had lice. Daycare had to close the next day (Wed) so she could disinfect everything and all that junk. She re-opened on Thursday and the kids all came back...and so did the lice. The kid wasn't treated AND the parents admitted they knew about the lice when they brought him on Tuesday...WHAT????? Are you kidding me? Anyway, that kid was sent home immediately (was only at daycare for maybe 5 mins) and she disinfected again. Today, I dropped Zane off as usual and went to work. I got a call from daycare at 9:15 a.m., saying that one of the other kids now had lice and I needed to pick Zane up b/c she had to close again to disinfect. I am beyond annoyed at this point. Thankfully Zane has no sign of the lice, but for these parents to purposely send their kid to school or daycare with lice is beyond me. I know lice is a part of most kids childhoods, but seriously I don't want him to get it at 8 mos old...I'm annoyed! Zane came into work with me for a couple hours and now we are home and he is napping...I think I might take a siesta myself!

Mama's & Boys' Only!

Zane and I went on a dinner outing tonight with our friends Neimeh and Bashir. We met Neimeh and her husband in our child birthing classes. It is so fun to keep in touch with them and see our boys grow together. This is only the second time Zane and Bashir have seen each other usually I see Neimeh more because we both work for Group Health. Anyway, we went to Red Robin tonight for dinner and the boys did great! Its so funny to see them communicate with each other and try to copy each other. Neimeh homemade some baby food for Zane and he loved it...I guess I better get the recipe!! We finished the night out with a trip to Target (my favorite store)!

Here are Zane and Bashir back in February.

Here they are today, my how they've grown!

Our little fish!

Zane took his very first swim lesson tonight and did GREAT!! He loved it, he was laughing most of the time and "talking" to all of the other babies! It was so fun to watch. My friend Karena came to take pictures for me since Josh was still at work...she took so many good ones it was hard to pick just a few, but here you go, our little fish Zane!

Meeting more of the family...

Zane finally got to meet my cousin Melissa today! I don't see Melissa (or her sister Amy) much these days and to be honest there is no reason why not other than we allow ourselves to get too busy! They came to my baby shower, but have never met Zane. Melissa instigated this lunch today and I'm very happy she did. Amy is due to have a baby next month, so that will be a good excuse to get over their way! It was a fun and entertaining (thanks to Zane) lunch. Thanks Melissa for suggesting it...lets do it again sometime!!

Sunday ritual.

Every Sunday morning Zane and I go grocery shopping before Josh even wakes up! Its nice to be at the stores early when nobody else is there, you feel like you have the whole place to yourself; not to mention the parking lot...love getting my pick of spots! I figure since Zane has me up by 6 every weekend day, I might as well make my time up productive!

Here he is this morning; still in his pj's! Notice the empty parking lot behind him...YES!

Stand tall little man!

Zane is officially pulling himself up on everything. Its amazing how fast he learned to do this after learning to crawl. I love to watch him do this, however its been posing some issues at nap time! Instead of just laying down and maybe crying for 5 mins and falling asleep...now when he doesn't think he needs a nap, he stands in his crib and cries. Not as easy to cry yourself to sleep if you're standing! We need to work on that, otherwise its a great new skill!

I cannot believe how fast he is growing up; sort of makes me sad although happy at the same time that he is thriving and learning new things.

Double-date plus Zane!

Our friend Jen recently got a new boyfriend (ok, so its been about 6 months) and although we've spent a little time with him we wanted to get to know him better. We went out on a double date with her and Ryan...Zane joined us since Jen is our babysitter and since she had to be on the date, she couldn't be at home watching the boy!!!

Taking Zane out to restaurants is a whole new ball-field, the kid is into EVERYTHING! He is so fun though and so fun to watch that I really don't care. Good thing we went to a restaurant where you just throw your peanut shells on the floor so you couldn't really see where Zane's mess started or ended!

PS: We 100% approve of Ryan!

Sure, he looks all sweet and innocent...

Zane decided to give me a present tonight...IN THE BATHTUB! Yep, you guessed it...he pooped in the bathtub tonight. I was sitting in the bathroom folding some laundry while he was playing and all of a sudden I heard grunting noises! I picked his wet butt up and slapped a diaper on him so he could finish his business...I then got to clean out the tub! Needless to say all of his toys will be in the dishwasher tonight getting sterilized!

Checking out his handy work!

I tried to spare you too much of the poop, but he wanted to look!

All happy in his diaper now...

Giving me a look of "please take this off me now, I'm done".

Another sunny day!

For you East-siders that read this...I know multiple sunny days in the summer for you is a norm...but for us West-siders...its a luxury! We are taking full advantage of every summer day we get! Zane's daycare is on vacation, so I took a couple days off to spend with him. Today we met up with our friends Brenda, Tate & Kennedi at the wadding pool in Puyallup. Zane LOVED it. He loved sitting and splashing in the water... I wish I didn't have to work all of the time so I could do this sort of stuff with him more often...but I guess that's what the weekends are for us full-time working mom's!

So I remembered the sunscreen on Zane's face today...but looks like I forgot it on my shoulders/arms! Oops!

Sunny days...chasing the clouds away!

Well, we weren't on our way to Sesame Street today, but we did enjoy the sunshine and heat! I lathered Zane up in sunscreen before our outings, but oops, forgot his face. Poor kid got a minor sunburn on his nose, thankfully it doesn't seem to bother him at all...unlike how it bothers me that he got one! Note to self...lather up the face as well next time.

We headed to the Farmer's Market in Des Moines today and played outside in our yard. I know I am really enjoying this warm weather...Zane doesn't seem to mind it either!

I hope you all enjoyed the sunny weather today as well!

I bet you didn't know how yummy a sunscreen container tastes!

Silly boy!

Zane will pull a hat off his head in about 1 minute, but he played for about 5 minutes with a toy on his head. Go figure!

Just another day at the office.

Zane had to come into work with me this morning for a few hours. I had/have today off because daycare is closed, but Josh had to go into Bellevue to take care of something today so I went in for a few hours to get some things done.

Zane loves going to my work because like everywhere else he is the center of attention and loves it! I am so lucky to have a boss that is ok with me bringing him in from time to time. As he gets older though, it gets less easy...this darn mobility keeps me on my toes!!

You can never have enough toys...

Zane has more toys now then I think I did my whole childhood! I swear everytime I turn around someone is giving him a new toy, I find one at the store I can't resist or I find one in his room that hasn't even been unwrapped since my baby showers from way before he was born!

Here is a walker toy that uncle Joe gave Zane a long time ago...I never thought he'd be old enough to use it and here he is (with some help from dad of course).

Here dad, let me help you put this thing together...

What's this...I come downstairs from my bath and there's a new toy!

Lets see, can I eat and drive yet?
