I'll Take That Bet...

Three of my friends and I embarked on a little journey over the last 4 weeks - we joined a "Diet Bet" (dietbet).  How this works is you bet that you can lose 4% of your weight in 4 weeks - to do this, you must put up a little wager (ours was $25 ea) - if you win (lose the 4% or more) you split the pot amongst all players - if you lose (fail to lose your 4%), you lost your $25!  I'm happy to report all 4 of us won the bet! There were thousands of people in on this bet and many of them won, but alas a few also failed...which means we got their money!  After wagering our $25, we all one $38.35 (so a $13.35 profit); I'll take that!

So without further adieu...here is my before and after picture (almost 9lbs lighter).

These are not the best pictures - the lighting is terrible in my room and the "after" pic was taken in a rush before work, so it just so happens that I was wearing all black which is very flattering we all know!  But regardless, I can tell a difference and I'm happy about it!  I have 9-10 more to lose, but I'm off to a good start!

This was a very stressful 4 weeks; I refused to lose to my friends which is much worse than losing to complete strangers ya know!  I made a lot of good choices in my eating habits and hopefully those will continue with me for awhile...I just need to get my bum in gear with exercise now; ugh!

After the bet was over - there was no better way to celebrate than heading to Five Guys for lunch!  My friend Lori (who also par-took in the bet and also won) met for lunch - we enjoyed every last morsal!

The journey has just begun - we still have more we want to lose.  Lori and I toyed around with idea of joining another bet, but both agree it was just too stressful to jump right back into one.  So we (she) came up with our own bet.  In the next 4 weeks, we agree to lose 4 or more pounds and if one of us fails to succeed, then we owe the other lunch - if we both succeed (which I'm sure we will) - we just enjoy a lunch together going "Dutch"!

I am going to start training for an 8K run in the next couple week - that will hopefully help me in attaining my goal faster as well as just starting a good exercise habit!  Just waiting for afternoon daylight and above freezing temperatures...which I think we are slowly starting to get!

Stay tuned for more updates!
