Fedora

We were visiting my grandma this past weekend and I was digging through her closet for something and found one of my grandpa's old Fedora hats!  My grandpa passed away a really long time ago, but I still miss him so much.  I know he would've just LOVED the boys, he would've had a blast with them.  I've talked about my grandpa to Zane many times and one of these days I will dig out some pictures of him so he can put a "name" to a face (darn digital cameras weren't even a twinkle in our eyes back when he was alive).  Anyway, I pulled the hat out of the closet and put it on Zane's head and loved what I saw!  My grandpa had a tiny little head and Zane has a large noggin so it fit him just fine, haha!  Someday I hope to inherit that hat and pass it down to my boys!

While we were there visiting my mom and uncle stopped by too - I was able to snap this great picture of my uncle Tom with Landon!

Children's-Work-Mall

What a day Zane and I had yesterday and I don't mean that in a bad way...we had a great day!  Since we are thinking more and more about pursuing a pump and possibly a CGM (Continuous Glucose Monitor) for our little man - we are in the process of taking the "pre-requisits" before making a final decision!  One of those pre-req's is to meet with a social worker at Children's.  They just want to give you information on how pumping can impact your (and your child's) life, good and bad...well, not bad, but it does have pros and cons as with everything in life pretty much.  We lucked out in getting the same social worker we had when we were in admission at Children's, it was great to see her again!

After Zane's appointment, we headed back to my work so I could get a few hours in and not have to take an entire day of vacation!  I've said it before and I'll say it over and over, I have the most understanding and accommodating boss in history I think!  She never minds when I need to bring Zane in with me for a few hours (of course it can't be a daily thing though) and I'm pretty sure she is so understanding for a few reasons: 1. Even with Zane there, I always get my work done; 2. Zane is very well behaved when he is there with me, he brings his toys and movies and just entertains himself while I work and 3. She has two little boys of her own and knows what its like and also sometimes needs to bring them in herself!  THANKFULLY, yesterday was one of those days for reason #3 so Zane and her boys (Logan and Blake) could play and entertain each other and that they did!  Our office looked like a daycare most of the day, but we loved it and I know the boys did too!  Blake ended up going home with his daddy later in the afternoon, so Logan and Zane had the run of the mill!  They watched Cars2 on our big conference room TV and then played "baseball" in the conference room, which made me VERY nervous...but thankfully, nothing was left broken!

After work, Zane and I picked up Landon and headed to Bell Square to meet up with another friend and her son Alex - we haven't seen them in ages, so it was fun to catch up!  The boys played on the play area for awhile and then we had dinner.  After dinner, I surprised Zane with something that he didn't even know existed...a trip to the LEGO store!!!  He was in awe when we walked in there!  I am pretty sure this was the first of MANY trips to come for that little boy!  Alex has been several times before, so he was all over showing Zane the ropes of the store!  I let Zane build 3 LEGO guys and he asked me to leave the dome light on in the car the whole way home so he could look at them!!

Zane LOVES to push Landon in the stroller!!

Boys' Bathroom Redo

I wanted to "update" the boys' bathroom a little and knew I didn't want to spend much money.  I also knew that we weren't going to be doing any major upgrades or construction to it, so I just got a little "crafty" and did what I could to make it look more cute and less boring!  I'm pretty happy with the results!

Checking Blood Sugar

Zane has had his Type 1 diagnosis for 14 mos and today was the first day he really started to take a little charge of it!  He's never minded having us check his blood sugar, but he's never wanted to really do it himself.  He has tried doing it himself a time or two in the past, but always needed a lot of help from us (which is TOTALLY fine and expected).  This morning after he came and woke us up, I half-jokingly said to him "go check your blood sugar" and he turned and said "OK!" and sure enough, I walked out into the hallway and he was doing it; start to finish all.by.himself!  He then told me he wanted to do it all the time by himself now and for the most part today, he has!  Of course I was right there all day to watch him and help interpret the numbers, but aside from once or twice today - he did do them all!  I asked him if he wanted to give himself a shot (after I of course drew up the insulin), but he said "no, I can't do that, I can only check my blood sugar"!  Ok buddy, I'm not ready for you not to need me yet anyway :)

And Step 6 that isn't pictured is me running to the fridge to grab him a juice-box, darn low blood sugars anyway!

Good job buddy, I am so proud of you and I love you!

Pacific Science Center

Josh had a great idea (if you ask him, he'll say that's the only kind of ideas he has, haha) to head to the Pacific Science Center today!  Neither Zane or Landon have ever been and neither Josh or I could remember the last time we had been, so needless to say...it was time we all went!  We ended up buying a family membership and I'm glad we did because I don't think we even experienced half of it in our few hours there today - we look forward to going back for more!

Zane has told me over and over tonight that this
water sprayer was his favorite thing, haha.

He refused to pet any of the sea creatures, but he had fun looking at them!

Josh and Zane headed into the butterfly exhibit - I chose to stay out with Landon.  I try to
stay away from anything that can fly...yes, that even means butterflies!

I did put on my brave face and head into the insect exhibit though (only because they
were all in aquarium tanks)!

Landon is not upset in this first picture even thought it may look as so.
He is screaming out of excitement!  I just like how it shows off his new teeth!

Zane enjoyed making music!

Landon watching daddy and Zane do some cool stuff with the water!

And just a little goofing off in the car on the way home!

Landon 1 Year Pictures

*Consider yourself warned for a photo dump of my kid*

I received the CD of Landon's 1 year pictures yesterday and, I LOVE THEM!  Here are a few of my favs!

Shoe Tying

So am I the last person to hear about this...Nordstrom offers a Shoe Tying Class for kids for free every month!!  I took Zane today and he was probably one of the youngest ones there and its pretty obvious we'll be going back for a few more classes, but he really did well!  Zane gets an A for effort!  He tried really hard but as soon as I noticed him starting to get frustrated and withdrawn from trying, I decided to call it quits - I didn't want to ruin it for him!  Even though he wasn't able to conquer the entire process by himself, he did get a goodie bag had a lot of fun!  I think one of the coolest things that happened while we were there, was Zane and Landon were asked to join their Kids Fashion Show next month!  Josh and I haven't decided if we'll do it, but its definitely something we are thinking about - I think it would be fun!!!

Thursday Soccer

Zane had his 2nd soccer practice (of this go-round) this past Thursday and again did awesome!  I am still just so amazed at how different this program is from the one at Starfire and I love it!  The kids actually got to play a "real" game with goalies and all - they ran for at least 30 mins straight if not longer.  Some of the kids were asking if they could just sit down, they were so tired from running, kind of made me laugh!

Anyway, here are a couple of pictures from the night - I won't bore you with pictures from every Thursday, but I had to at least post a couple from their "game"!

Warming up with Coach Emma.

I love the big picture in the collage below!

Coach Chris taught the kids how to celebrate after a goal, it was so cute.  After each goal (you can see Zane assisting in one below) the team would run over and pound on the plexi-glass, then step back and do a little dance!!  I tried to capture it the best I could below.

Valentine Festivities!

We had a great Valentine's Day today...even if I was at work, Zane was at school, Landon was home with grandma and I never saw Josh!  Zane had a blast at his party today - enjoyed more than enough sweets and thankfully his blood sugar has been pretty spot on or easily corrected!  Landon enjoyed a lunch with grandma and papa at The Spaghetti Factory, I endured way too many sweets at work today and Josh is probably enjoying some sweets at his work tonight too!

Josh and I's adorable Valentines!
Seriously, could they be any cuter?!

Zane's Valentine packages he put together for his
classmates!!

Zane's teacher's Valentines!

Our grease'fied dinner!!!

I had a great time with Valentine's Day this year and I am pretty sure my boys enjoyed it as well!
We all hope you had a wonderful Valentine's Day!!

Valentine Cards

Zane has his first Valentine's Party today at school/daycare and needed some Valentine's to hand out so  I found one on Pinterest that I couldn't pass up! Then just made Landon's up on my own...ooh, I'm so creative :)

Here's a little peak of what the boys woke up to this morning :)
