Our Funny Boy!

Zane has always been such a goofball, but lately he's really been cracking me up! He loves to make you laugh and when you do laugh at him, he makes it a point to laugh with you (like he's laughing at himself), which in turns makes me laugh even more! He is also developing quite the personality these days, never afraid to let you know what is his by screaming "MINE" and never afraid to tell you "NO" if he doesn't want something or doesn't want to do something. He is also becoming such a little helper and usually always wants to help. Its nice to be able to ask him to go get something for you and he usually hops right up and goes and gets it for you or ask him to put his cup on the counter and he'll take it right over there (its cute to watch him get onto his tippy toes to get his cup up there) or tell him its time for a bath or night-night and he heads right to the stairs knowing exactly where to go. He's becoming Mr. Independent and I'm not sure I love that so much, I mean...I do love that he's growing up and that he's learning life skills, but I'm not loving that my baby isn't such a baby anymore!

Anyway, here are a few recent pictures of him being his cute-self and cracking me up!

Here he is the other day wearing his rain boots (when there was no rain in sight)...he absolutely refused to take them off, even wearing them to daycare!

Here he is sitting in one of his toy buckets at the top of the stairs, when I saw him bring it over, I was sure he was going to try and ride it down...thankfully, that thought didn't even seem to cross his mind!

Not only is the toy bucket good for sitting in at the top of the stairs...but its also good as a step stool to help wash the window (on his own accord, I did not assign this chore to him)!!

First Boat Ride!

Josh's company picnic was held at American Lake today and it was so much FUN! I saw one of the funniest things in my entire life and that was Josh doing a 3-legged race; holy cow, I don't think I've laughed this hard in a long time! After we ate a delicious meal catered by Longhorn BBQ and played a few games, it was down to the dock to take a ride on the boat! This was Zane's first boat ride and he loved it! When we were waiting on the dock for the boat to come get us, he wanted nothing more than to get into the water, but as soon as the chance came for him to get in after boating around for awhile, he wasn't so sure of it anymore! He did great in the water though and climbed up the later to get into the boat all by himself! Josh had a chance to go inner-tubing and we all had the chance to have a great time motoring around the lake!! I took a ton of pictures, it was hard to pick my favorites!!

Here Zane is trying on his lifejacket for the first time last night!

Watch out, this kid is already figuring out what a keg is all about!

Josh and his work buddy getting ready for the 3-legged race!

And their down!

Josh has decided to just try and drag Devon across the finish line...by the way; they were dead last!

Here Zane is patiently waiting for the boat to come and get us. Notice how I'm having to hang on to his life jacket; the kid just wanted to scoot right in!

Josh and a friend on the inner tube! Both were thrown off a couple times, but they had a great time and Zane loved watching and kept saying "daddy, water"!

Zane and I enjoying the ride!

Zane and daddy going for a little dip in the lake; the water was surprisingly warm!

He absolutely loved being on the boat! I so wish we owned one or were good friends with someone who did, haha!

On our way back to the dock :(

Last Minute Decision.

We had a babysitter all set up to watch Zane while Josh and I went to the Sounders game last Thursday, but on last minute we decided to take him! I had an appointment Friday morning, so knew that he could sleep in a little, so we thought why not! He did great! I think his highlights were: 1. the band 2. the popcorn & 3. climbing over our seats while Josh and I were standing!
He may just have earned himself another game with his awesome behavior on Thursday!

Park.

Josh and I took Zane to the park this evening...we had to celebrate finally seeing the sunshine again!! We drive by this park all of the time, but have never stopped to play until today. I was impressed with all of the things geared towards toddlers, most parks freak me out because the stairs have no rails or there are only ladders to climb up to the slides (he hasn't mastered the ladder yet), but this park was just right for him! I think we'll be going back!

Special Treat.

While at the birthday party last weekend our friend Emily's sister in law was at the party snapping pictures. Melinda happens to be an up and coming photographer! She snapped these two pictures of our little man and has offered to order us a print in each for free! SCORE! Anyway, I think they are so adorable (ok, so I might be a bit bias), but I love the look on his face in the first one and then his smile is just priceless in the 2nd one.

Frogs, Snails and Puppy Dog Tails.

The grass at the park where the party was at yesterday was just covered with little tree frogs jumping all around the grass. The older kids were having a ball catching the frogs and putting them in jars and playing with them. Josh was able to catch one for Zane and to my shock Zane actually held the little guy. Again, I was happy to have my camera on hand!

Katie please let Bobby know that no frogs were hurt yesterday and that all frogs were set free and were not held captive in little jars forever!!!

Big brother in training?

NO, I am not pregnant, just thought I'd throw you guys for a loop with the title! At the party yesterday our friends Brian and Renee had both their kiddos there and one just happens to be only 7 weeks old (Ethan). Ethan was just chillin' in his carseat w/o anyone really tending to him because he was totally content just sitting there checking things out. I happen to look over and here's what I found, it was so cute and I am so happy I had my camera in back pocket to quickly pull out for documentation purposes!

Zane was rocking Ethan.

Zane then helped Ethan get his binky back into his mouth (this is my favorite picture, Zane just looks so sweet helping him out).

Here Zane is putting Ethan's blanket back after Ethan kicked it off with all of the rocking! Yes, we quickly took the blanket off Ethan's face, but the thought was there Zane!

Happy Birthday Miles!

Our good friend's son Miles turns one tomorrow and we celebrated his birthday yesterday out at a park near their house! We are so thankful the rain held off and we had nice cool comfortable weather to play in! Its always amazing to me how fast time flies with these little kids, on minute they are newborns and the next they are turning 1 and growing up so fast! I guess what they say is true...treasure every moment because each moment passes so quickly! Ok, enough sappiness, we are very proud of Miles and all of his accomplishments over the last year and can't wait for him to start walking so he can chase the other boys around! As usual I took way too many pictures and can't pick just a few, so enjoy!

The birthday boy!

Bubble fun for the kids; Zane LOVED these bubble wands. I know whats on his birthday/Christmas list this year!

Miles enjoying his first piece of cake all to himself! This kid knew exactly what to do and just dove right in!

Zane figured out what to do too! Notice the frosting on his eyebrow!

Presents, lots of presents! Zane's pointing to the one he likes best!

Fun with daddy on the slide!

Zane figured he could help out one of the volleyball teams, I heard he spiked the ball pretty good!

Weekend Away!

Josh and I had the luxury of going away this weekend for our anniversary (which is actually tomorrow). One of the doctors that I work with has a cabin (i.e. house) in Mazama Washington, which is right by Winthrop and Twisp that she lent to us. This house was gorgeous and the views were spectacular. It was the first weekend that we have been away without Zane since he was born, it was a little weird at first, but we got used to it and made the most out of our time with just the 2 of us. We knew that he was safe and having fun with his grandparents!

We saw the most beautiful sight in Washington state I think! Diablo Lake. This is the prettiest lake I have ever seen in my life. I didn't know that turquoise water even existed in Washington...I thought that was only found in the Carribean! Diablo Lake is no where as warm as the Carribean waters, but so beautiful. We stopped on our way home today to take a few pictures.

One thing I learned about myself from this little trip is that I am not cut out for country livin'! I like city conveniences too much. It was fun to relax for a couple of days, but I was ready to get back into my hectic life; sad but true! I like being busy and I like having a million things going on at once and I like the convenience of going to the store and turning on the tv or computer whenever I want!

It was a great time away with the man of my dreams though! Now we are just waiting for the little Zane-man to get home!
