Officially on the move!

Zane is officially on the move. He is doing a backwards army crawl...we like to call it the "belly flop crawl"! Instead of the army crawl that most kids start with (dragging their feet, and scooting with their arms); he moves with his feet, but hasn't figured out the arm thing completely and belly flops once his legs "get ahead of him" persay, but he gets where or what he wants and that's all that matters to him I'm sure! A couple times this evening he did finally get all 4 limbs working together, but of course not when I was able to video!!

Cooling Off!

Zane and I went over to my mom's today to cool off in their "hot tub"! They don't have the heat pump on, so its like a miniature swimming pool! Zane loved every minute of it. My mom also bought him some turtle goggles while she was in Hawaii recently; he was more interested in eating them than wearing them, but we were able to snag a picture or two!

Worth the $$$...or so I'm told anyway!

After the car show today we headed over to Qwest Field for the Baby Expo! It was pretty cool to visit all of the booths and see all of the gimics out there for babies and receive the free marketing ploys (i.e. give-aways)! We'll take it, free and the name Alexander go hand in hand!

One purchase we did make though was on an Ergo Baby Carrier. I have heard wonderful things about these from friends of mine, but I was always too cheap to buy one. Today I finally decided it was time. Zane has outgrown the Baby Bjorn and the Ergo can carry kids up to 40 lbs (as well as on your back)...since its obvious, I have a big baby, I thought it was necessary. Zane does great in his stroller, but sometimes he just wants to be held and other times the stroller isn't really feasible for where we might be. Josh and I also want to do some hiking this summer and this will come in great for that too! I'm very excited to give it more of a college try!

Like Father Like Son

Zane is already showing signs of wanting to be like his daddy. He enjoys sitting on daddy's motorcycle and he also enjoyed his first car show today! Despite no morning nap and 80 degree weather, the little monkey did great!

Clean bill of health for both my boys!!

First Zane; I took him to his follow up Dermatologist appointment yesterday and she has cleared him from seeing her again!! She said his skin is night and day from our last appointment a month ago. We are still on the coal tar/steroid cream, but she prescribed just a plain coal tar ointment for us to try. I should be picking that up from the pharmacy tomorrow. We are supposed to use the straight coal tar ointment and if the spots come back, we can switch back over to the steroid combo one and back to the plain one etc. I am hoping that the plain one will also do the trick so we can get the steroids off the little man's body! Here are a couple pictures of his "cured for now" skin!!!





Second Josh; Josh went to his follow up Ortho appointment today for his fractured ankle and has been cleared to go back to work! Yippee!!!! I think I am more excited about that any anyone! He has a brace to wear when he feels he needs the extra support, but basically is not required to wear it. The new x-rays showed the bone healing just perfectly! He has an MRI scheduled for 3 weeks to get a really good picture and really make sure its healed. I am sure that will come out clear as well. I am so happy to be through the thick of both my boys' medical ailments! Maybe life can return to normal...or what I like to call "normal" in my little world!!

Woohoo, no more cast...life is great!

Happy Father's Day!

Happy Father's Day to all of the dad's out there! And Happy 1st Father's Day to Josh. I couldn't do it w/o you, thank you for all you do for me and Zane. We love you.

Too early to call it a success?

I think it might be safe to say that this new "tar" cream that Zane's Dermatologist prescribed is working!

Trip to Sunny California!

We just returned from a quick trip to sunny CA. Josh had a training for work down there, so Zane and I tagged along. Zane and I hung out at the beach and pool while Josh was at "school"! We had a great time. I was really worried about the plane rides, didn't want to be the mom on the plane with the screaming child (we flew by ourselves w/o Josh on the way down)! Zane did absolutely FANTABULOUS! I couldn't be more proud. On the way down he slept for about 45 mins and then awoke in a great mood. For some reason he found the guy sitting next to us hilarious. Zane was busting out laughing at this guy for a good 45 mins. A deep down belly laugh. Most of the plane was cracking up at him, you could hear him all over. I had tears streaming down my face from laughing so hard. Thankfully, the guy was good natured about it and found it funny himself!

We didn't do anything too exciting accept hang out and relax. We were able to see one of my sister's, Shauna. It was her first time meeting Zane so that was cool!

Ocean Shores

We took our annual trip to Ocean Shores this past weekend. It was obviously Zane's first. It was a great time for us all.

The weekend in a nut shell...

This weekend was pretty low-key, but fun at the same time! Sometimes a low-key weekend is just what is needed.

Saturday night we went to a friend's house for a dinner party and Zane was able to "play" with his friend David. David is almost exactly 2 mos younger than Zane...it is going to be a blast when these two are old enough to really get up and play and make trouble!




Sunday we went to a retirement party for one of the nurses I work with. Zane was a hit as usual! It was a fun time and it was great to see him in such a good mood with everyone! I sure hope he never develops "stranger anxiety", so far so good! Wait, I take that back...I hope he does understand "stranger danger" someday, but for now I like that he will go to my friends with no problem!

Ut Oh...

Zane has already ended up in a girl's bed!! We went over to see Brooklyn this weekend and she was just waking up from her nap...Zane decided to hop in (ok, with help from mom) and help wake her up!

Now, if he was 15 and doing this I wouldn't be taking pictures or blogging about it...but for now its one of those things thats "only cute when you are a baby"...sort of like fat rolls!

Why didn't I think of that?

Do you ever wonder how people come up with the weirdest remedies to "cure" ailments? As you may know (well you do if you ever read this blog), Zane has been dealing with some pretty crazy skin issues for a few months now. The dermatologist just started us on our 4th (I think, I've lost count) treatment for it. Guess what it is? Coal Tar. I am not kidding! OK, so its mixed with a steroid ointment, but a major ingredient is coal tar. Its working really well so far too. I hope it doesn't follow suit with other treatments we've been on...they work for a week and then stop. But anyway to the point of this post...who the heck thought about using coal tar? Did someone back in the 1800's get so frustrated with their skin issues/eczema one day that they were out in the field or on the train tracks or wherever and think "what the hell, I'm going to put some coal tar on my arm and see what happens" and to their amazement no more itching? Then did that person tell their kids and then they told theirs and then theirs and so forth and that is how we end up with it today as a treatment? Whatever, I don't care who told who or who figured it out, I'm just glad they did. The only downfall is that the cream smells like an old gas station! Oh well, it can smell like rotten eggs for all I care as long as it makes my little baby feel better! Cross your fingers that it continues!
