Hard Headed.

There are a few calls that a wife and mother never want to receive and one of those calls is that your husband or child are hurt. Today I received one of those calls. I happened to look at my phone today while at work (its usually on vibrate, so I don't hear it if it rings) and noticed I had a new voicemail from Josh. I listened to it and my heart dropped into my stomach. While at work today he walked into the tailgate of a car that was up on a rack and walked into it hard. He put a nice big gash in his forehead and once he was taken to another location in the shop and getting help he passed out (no, not from the blood, but from shock and pain). Once that happened the shop immediately called 911. The paramedics came and checked him out and concluded that he was OK, but would need stitches. Josh's boss then took Josh to the "workman's comp" (not sure the real name) clinic and there the doc decided he could just "glue" his wound back together instead of stitches (phew!!). The doctor sent him home for the day and said he could return back to work tomorrow. Josh was not hurt bad at all compared to the many other things in life that could've happened to him, but still to get a voicemail from him with very little information other than basically "I hit my head, I guess I passed out, the paramedics came and now I'm on my way to the doctor" sort of freaked me out!

I love this man more than anything (except Zane, he ranks right up there too) and I never want to see him hurt. I'm very thankful that it was just a minor injury!

Visit with Luke (& Karena)!

Karena and Luke came to visit Zane and I today while Josh was out snow-shoeing with a buddy! We had a great time hanging out at the house for awhile and letting the boys play and us girls time to chat and catch up! Zane gave Luke his Christmas presents today, even though its really early! We wanted to make sure Luke got his ornament in time to hang on the tree to be able to enjoy it all season! After hanging out at the house, we headed out to the mall and Costco where both boys were complete angels...seriously!

Let the decorating begin!!

Again I say...I love this time of year!!
This was the first year that Zane really took part in helping decorate the tree...he didn't have a lot of interest (his cars and books were more exciting apparently), but he did hang a few ornaments! I can tell the biggest challenge this year is going to be getting him to NOT touch all of the ornaments! I think gifts will stay out from under the tree until Christmas Eve...not sure his little fingers could stay away from those either, but maybe I'll get brave and try a few under there to see what happens!!

Black Friday!!

As with almost every year that I can remember, I headed out to some of the Black Friday sales today! I was so happy and lucky to have my little shopping partner with me again this year! We don't get up at the crazy hours some people do to be first in line, I just let Zane wake up at whatever time he wakes up and then after breakfast we head out. The two main stores we went to this year were Target & Ikea, but we also hit a few more smaller stores! We made out with some pretty cool sales and really started to get into the holiday spirit!

Josh has been busy most of the day putting up lights and decorations around our house! As I type this, he is downstairs putting the tree up in its stand, so Zane and I can get to decorating it! I absolutely love Christmas time and cannot wait to get the house completely decorated!!!

Happy Thanksgiving 2009!

I am thankful for many more things than I could ever list in this post. I thank God everyday for my wonderful husband and son, family, friends and our health. We had a great turkey day today after a lazy morning at home, we headed down to Seattle to Josh's cousin's c0ndo for dinner. This condo was gorgeous and had beautiful views of the Space Needle and other Seattle landmarks, very cool place to visit!! Thank you Chuck and Sheri for hosting Thanksgiving this year!!

MLS Cup & The Swell Season!

When Josh bought Sounders season tickets last year, one of the only things I wanted to make sure happened was that I got to see David Beckham play! Our first game against LA Galaxy was on Mother's Day and Zane had just gotten out of the hospital w/horrible pneumonia so I had to miss the game...but turns out Beckham wasn't there anyway! Our 2nd game against them was in LA, so obviously didn't get to see him (in person). Well, yesterday, I got my wish!! Sadly the Sounders didn't make it to the MLS Cup, but the Galaxy did and we were there! Yes, ladies, he is just as hot in person as he is on tv!! It was a great game, but we had to leave early...well not early, but just as OT was starting. Just for documentation purposes, Real Salt Lake won the game 2-1 after the game went into penalty kicks.

Josh and I with Brad Evens (Sounders) before the game!

WOW, I'd like to introduce you to my double chin...ugh.

Beckham...

Beckham...

And one more of Beckham!

Josh and I dashed from Qwest Field over to The Paramount to see The Swell Season, FANTASTIC show! If you have not heard this band play/sing, then you really need to! I became hooked on them when I first watched the movie Once and we tried to go to their concert last year, but it sold out too fast...this year, I made sure I had a pre-sale code to get tickets and I'm glad I did! One thing I learned though...apparently people get dressed up to go to a concert at The Paramount...we were a little under-dressed in our jeans and Sounders gear, haha! I didn't feel so bad when I noticed the girl next to me in jeans and a Rat City Roller Derby t-shirt on...I guess they put all of us slobs in the same row!!! I tried to take pictures at the concert, but none of them turned out, so you'll just have to believe me that we were there and it was a great show!

Thanks to Grandma and Grandpa Alexander for watching Zaner for the night so we could enjoy our night out!!

Chilaxin'

Just a couple cute pictures I captured in the last week of Zane just chillin'.

Riding in a "big truck" as he'd call it...really its just a friend's pick-up truck, but whatever makes him happy!

NO, we do not allow him to eat grilled cheese on the couch normally (or even this night for that matter)...but it was just so cute I had to take a picture. The story behind this is...Zane loves to climb up onto the couch and play "night night" and put the pillows in a certain place that suits him and then cover himself up with the blankets...this night, after doing that, he so sweetly asked me to get his sandwich for him...which I of course did. BUT as soon as I took the picture, the sandwich went back onto the table!

Mickey Mouse!

I have no idea where Zane's sudden obsession with Mickey Mouse has come from...its part cute and part annoying! Just yesterday he started asking for Mickey (Mi-ey) Mouse over and over. I finally turned on Mickey Mouse Clubhouse (thank God for On Demand) and he was content watching all 3 episodes. He didn't watch all 3 at once and he played during watching them for the most part, but he had to have them on. As soon as we got home from our day yesterday, he was asking for it again and again this morning! I didn't even know he knew who Mickey Mouse was, so this is all new to me...but I guess I can handle it! I needed a break from Yo Gabba Gabba anyway!!

First Movie!

My good friend Brenda's husband planned a birthday gathering for her yesterday and that gathering included going to a movie (A Christmas Carol) and then out to dinner! Zane has never been to a movie before and won't even sit through an entire 30 minute kids t.v. show, so I was a little nervous about taking him! He did GREAT! He loved eating popcorn and loved sitting by one of his best girls' Kennedi! He did talk through a lot of the movie and didn't quite understand how to whisper, but he sat in his seat for the movie and really did a good job! I am very proud of my little man! I can't guarantee he's (or I'm) ready to go to another movie anytime soon, but it was fun to take him to his 1st one!! Zane and Brenda's kids get a long great and they love to help take care of him, so its almost a little free time for me...I can't beat that!

In looking at these pictures it totally looks like Zane is on a date!!

Here are Zane and his date Kennedi holding hands and picking out their candy choice!

Kennedi's big brother Tate is here to help chaperone the date!

Here are the two love-birds enjoying some popcorn!

Mommy was there to chaperone as well!

2 Year Check-Up

Zane had his 2 year well-child visit this afternoon and he passed with flying colors! She said he looks great and is progressing just as he should! She was impressed with how much he talked and that he could put two words together! She didn't have any concerns, just said to do what we're doing! The only piece of advice she could dig up to give us was...to put lotion on him after his bath! Ha, we can do that! After 3 shots and 2 stickers, he was ready to go!

Zane's Stats:
Weight: 29 lbs (62%); he's put on 19 lbs since birth.
Height: 36 inches (86%); he's put on 16 inches since birth.
Head Circ: 19.88 inches (89%); he's put on 4.88 inches since birth

Party Time!

We had Zane's birthday party yesterday at the Tukwila Community Center! It turned out really good. We were able to rent two rooms with one of the rooms being just for the kids to go crazy in and play the other was for food and presents...pretty sweet deal. I think Zane was a little overwhelmed, but he had a good time. He got the cutest look of surprise and excitement on his face each time a new friend would show up, it was almost like he was thinking "hey, what are you doing here"! He was not into sharing his new toys though, that much I can tell you! The word "mine" was used many times as he opened his presents! Oh well, I guess they are yours kiddo...but you do need to share! Thanks to my friend Brenda and my brother for taking some great pictures I have some here to show you!

Zane's 2 year pictures.

We had Zane's 2 year pictures done last Friday by our favorite photographer Sylvia Cook (she also did Zane's 18 mos pics). Here is the gallery of pictures that she took if you are interested in viewing. I can tell I am going to have a hard time picking which ones to order! Why do you have to do such a good job Sylvia, why?!!!!

Happy 32 to Josh!

My awesome husband's birthday was on Monday and his choice for dinner was Tokyo Steakhouse! I had been wanting to take Zane there to see what he'd think of the fire and of the chef's cooking our meal at the table, so it was a great excuse to go! Zane was not too sure about the fire, but all in all thought it was pretty cool. Our chef was hilarious and making us all laugh throughout our meal, but the best part was watching Josh get embarrassed while being sung too...ha, I love it! The embarrassment was worth it though, he got an extra scoop of ice cream in his dish!!

Trick-or-Treat!

Zane had his first experience with trick-or-treating this year! We didn't go to too many places, we did more driving around than anything, but he still had fun and was still the cutest tiger on the block!

Zane has learned he likes candy; possibly a little too much. Poor kid got sick on our way home from trick-or-treating last night, but he is fully recovered today (although, has been cut off from candy for now)!

We drove out to Gig Harbor to surprise Josh's parents last night, it was so much fun! They were so surprised and so excited to take him down to the neighbors to trick-or-treat (and of course show his cuteness off)!

He even got one of his birthday presents while visiting with the grandparents last night (he also got gifts from the other grandparents he went to see last night too...I just forgot to take pictures). Have you ever seen a tiger riding a horse before?
