He passed...

I never thought the day would come that Zane would pass a swim test!  This kid has had a rough go with learning how to swim.  He had some innate fear of the water and it's taken him a very long time to learn to be "ok" with it!  I'm happy to report after 6 years of swim lessons, he's finally got it!  And he is so proud and so are we!

Railroad Days Kids 1k

The boys ran in the Railroad Days Kids 1k today!  Zane came in 5th overall and Landon thinks he came in 3rd...I decided to let him believe he came in 3rd for the 4 year olds; he seemed to be ok with that!

Clearly we had to get up a little early for the run :)

Date Night

I got home from work tonight and within about 5 minutes could tell that Josh had had his fill of the boys for awhile!  With summer winding down and their restlessness and never-ending bickering sometimes - I can totally understand why!  I decided to take the boys out for awhile and give him a bit of a break...yes, I'm such a nice wife like that!  You're welcome Josh!

After a trip to a couple stores, we ended up at Red Robin for dinner.

Landon chose what he wanted from the menu...the pepperoni pizza (which comes with a smiley face of pepperoni).  When the waiter came to take our order, I let him know that Landon wanted the smiling pizza and Landon chimed in and said "no, I want a sad face pizza"...well, apparently, its an ask and you shall receive sort of motto at Red Robin :)

Maybe it was sad to be going into someone's tummy!
And ketchup with apples?  Because why not!  This kid dips EVERYTHING in ketchup if it's available to him.

Splash Park

No summer is complete in our household without a trip to the splash park.  One thing I miss about living in the south end is the assortment of splash parks at your disposal. There just aren't very many out this way - thankfully the boys don't care.  They just want water and fun.

Denny Creek Waterslides

We finally did it!  We finally had the time to hike out to the Denny Creek waterslides today!  I have been wanting to do this since last summer - so happy we finally were able to make it happen!  It was so much fun!  We went with some friends of ours who have a son the same age as Zane, so that worked out well!  The water level is super low this year, so the slides were not at all what they normally are I guess...but the boys still had a great time.  The rocks are SUPER slippery and we had a few bumps, bruises and tears but everyone recovered quickly and kept on playing!  It was great and I can't wait to go back again next summer!

Here is a video of Zane going down one of them...he did it about 3 times.  The last time didn't end so well.  As he was getting up to climb back to the top, he slipped and smacked his head on the rocks :(  It was not an easy task for me to get down to him (as I was not planning to slide myself, haha), but I managed and he was thankfully, although has a nice goose egg to show for himself.  He recovered and kept on playing - but not anymore on that one slide and I don't blame him!

The goose egg right after it happened.
The goose egg tonight - it is HUGE.  Poor thing.

Landon had a blast on this little slide!

Blue Angels

We headed out to the Museum of Flight on Saturday to see the Blue Angels up close and take off for their air show!  It was amazing being that up close and personal to them!  The only downside is we didn't get to see much of the air show...but still, not every day you can say you were only feet away from one!  Next year I hope we get out to actually see the show!

Zane won a trivia game and a bag full of candy!  He was pretty stoked!

Engines have been started!

#1 making it's way to the runway!

Camping - 2015

We headed to beautiful Ephrata Washington this weekend to do a little camping!  We headed over with 3 other families and all had a great time!  I am not a big camper...I like the idea of it, I hate the work and the dirty of it!  I'm more of a glamper at heart...but since I don't have a glamper budget, I just suck it up every other year!  I loved camping with friends when I was in college and I only had myself to worry about...all I had to pack was a change of clothes a tent that we probably borrowed from someone, food we "bought" at the dining hall and beer...now it's like we bring everything including the kitchen sink!  But it's all about building memories for our kids right?  So we built some memories this weekend!  Now, I think we are good on the memory building for another couple years :)

Two milestones hit on this trip:
#1 - Landon had his first bee sting.
#2 - Zane broke his first bone (pinky toe).

I'm happy to report, both have survived.
