Not a job for mommy...

Josh is the one who cuts Zane's hair in this house...but tonight daddy was busy working on something, so I thought "how hard can it be" and decided to take a stab at it. Well, I've learned...it is just that hard and I need to leave that job up to daddy! Its not terrible, he's definitely had worse haircuts in the past (anyone remember the Dumb & Dumber cut a couple years ago??), but I still feel bad for the little guy (thankfully, he doesn't think anything's wrong)! Josh told me "not to quit my day job"...I think I'll take him up on that advice, haha!

Kannberg-Nybo Wedding!

My great friend Jen got married last night and I'm so happy we were there to share in the day with her! I don't think I have ever been so happy for someone at their wedding in my life as I was for Jen and Ryan! They are a wonderful couple and deserve the best in marriage and in life. Jen is one of the best friends a girl could have and I hate to have to share her with Ryan, but I will :) Here are a few pictures from our kid-free night out!!

New Park

Josh heard about a new park in Tacoma a week or so ago and we decided to take Zane there yesterday...rain or shine! Although, Josh's parents already took Zane there last week, we were anxious to check it out ourselves and Zane was excited to go back! It was a lot smaller than I had expected, but cute nonetheless. Lots of fun things for the kids to climb on and play with. I definitely think its a park we'll go back to (maybe on a sunnier day)!

While there, Josh played around with our camera again taking some good pics of the lil' man. We are trying to find a park/place to do his 3 year pics and were trying this park on for size. Didn't have enough trees for my picture "liking", but it was fun to do a little practice!

Day 2 = ROUGH DAY

Well, day 2 of new daycare did NOT go as well as day 1 did and honestly I should've expected it...but didn't. Zane was not thrilled when I dropped him off this morning at all, he was throwing quite the fit for me, but knowing that he is usually fine in about 3-5 mins, I left him there unhappy and went off to work. I had a feeling on the way to work that things wouldn't go as well today, but figured I was over reacting and I tried to ignore the guilt I was feeling.

I was feeling so uneasy about the drop-off that I even purposely did not silence my cell phone at work like I normally do...just had that feeling. Sure enough, around 11 a.m. my cell phone rings. As soon as I saw the # pop up, I just knew something wasn't right. She explained that Zane was having a very rough day and that he had been crying off and on (mostly on) for the last TWO HOURS for me and she just couldn't get him to calm down. My heart broke...my poor baby has been crying for that long and I didn't know it and I wasn't there to make him feel better. I raced down to daycare and as soon as he saw me, he just lost it (I just about did too, but managed to keep it together). He was begging me to "go home", I explained to him that we couldn't go home, that mommy had to go to work. After realizing that a quick hug was not going to fix the situation we (daycare and I) agreed to pull him out for the rest of the day and I'd just take him to work with me. We also agreed that next week, I would stay with him for an hour or so every morning until he was comfortable and then I'd try to head to work...alone. I should've known this would happen...

Experts say that routine is the best thing for your baby and that kids thrive off of it and they are right to an extent...the problem is, is that routines can actually back-fire on you...one little hiccup and you're in meltdown city. We have been very routine with Zane since day one and it really has worked to our advantage for the most part...but making a big change like this is not going to be easy, he just doesn't understand and that my friends is so hard as a parent to deal with.

Anyway...off to my work we went. I share an office with my boss who thankfully is SO understanding (maybe because she has a 2 year old and 4 mos old herself) and was more than happy to let me bring him with today. Also, thankfully, she was only working 1/2 day, so she didn't have to listen to him jibber jabber for long!! Zane did so well today, he colored, played with a few toys we keep in the office and even took a 2 hour nap (that I had to wake him up from, because I didn't think I'd get approved for OT just so I could let him sleep!!). Although, he did so well, this cannot be a habit, so hopefully next week doing a slower transition will help him (and me).









Oh and if anyone's wondering YES, I'm completely freaking out about how this new baby will disrupt Zane's life more than ever now. If changing something as *simple* as his daycare is going this way...how is a new family member that is going to absorb a HUGE amount of my time going to affect him. Oy, oy, oy!

New Daycare.

After a lot of thought and decision making it was decided to find Zane a new daycare. There is a laundry list of reasons why we came to this conclusion, but those are neither "here nor there" now. His last day at Tracey's was last Friday and today was his first day at Tiny Tots! I was very nervous for this morning, but ended up finding out there was no real reason to be so nervous! Zane is such a trooper!

We arrived at his new daycare this morning and only 1 other boy was there so far and Zane was pretty stand offish (which I expected). This kid wanted to play with Zane so bad and didn't understand why Zane wasn't playing with him or talking to him; I had to keep telling the kid to give Zane time and he'd warm up...and he did! In no time, Zane was off playing with this little boy and soon a few babies showed up and that made me happy...I got to cuddle a couple while watching Zane play! I spent about 1.5 hours there this morning making sure that Zane was settled in and that things were going well and then I headed off to work.

I couldn't wait to go and pick him up tonight to see how his day was! He had a lot of fun! Today happened to be "Library Bus" day...how exciting for the little man who is in love with busses right now! He got to get on the bus and have story-time and even help pick out books for the daycare (the bus comes every month). I loved hearing him tell me all about it on the way home! The daycare provider told me "he did great...well, he's such a great well-behaved kid anyway, but he did so good". That made me so happy to hear...I knew he would do great because I agree...he is a great kid!

One big change with this daycare is that I have to pack his lunch and snacks everyday...I really was nervous for this (not sure why), but ended up being fine and he even surprised me by eating it all! Today's menu was: jelly sandwich (he won't eat peanut butter), string cheese, cereal bar, some pirates booty (popcorn), fruit snacks, a milk and a juice!!

Puyallup Fair 2010

My dad took us to the fair again this year and again we had a blast! This year, Zane was tall enough to actually ride the rides w/o me cheating! We also looked at the animals this year (which we didn't do last year) and did a lot more walking around (less stroller riding)! My little boy is getting so big!

Baking.

Fall is in the air...time to start baking!! I love everything about fall except the constant darkness. I don't even mind the rain, but I hate it being dark when I wake up/leave for work, it makes it so much harder to wake up in the morning!

Anyway...Wednesday is normally the day every week that my in-laws watch Zane, but today they were both sick. Josh and I tag teamed and I went to work for the morning and came home at lunc and then he went in for the afternoon...really worked out well. This afternoon Zane and I baked some delicious peanut butter and chocolate (my favorite food combination out there) cookies and they turned out great! Lucky for me, Zane doesn't like peanut butter at all (odd I know), so that meant more for me! He did try eating some of the batter off of the beater to see if he "liked it now", but nope, still doesn't like it!
