Kindergarten Orientation

Can't believe my baby will be starting Kindergarten in 4 months - where have the last 5.5 years gone?

Tonight we had orientation - Zane got to head off to his new classroom and meet his new teacher and some of the kids who will also be in his class.  Josh (Landon) and I got to listen to the principal tell us how great Zane's school is (really, it actually is great)!  I had to hold back tears a few times tonight - I just couldn't (and still can't) believe the time had come for us to be taking part in all of this.  Zane is beyond excited though - so that makes me happy and a little less sad.

That's his teacher holding up the yellow sign!

Standing in his classroom (I think its so cool they have their own bathroom, haha).

Cousins

Our favorite family from Alaska were in Seattle for a quick 24 hour lay-over on Monday before they headed off to sunny Florida!  Thankfully they built time into their schedule for us all to meet up for dinner!  Zane has never met these cousins and it took a little warming up before he would really engage in un-prompted (by me) conversation, but as Murphy's Law would say - as soon as it was close to being time to leave - they couldn't get enough of each other!

We still like each other :)

Josh and I had 3 full days all to ourselves this weekend - the boys went to their grandparent's house and Josh took the weekend off work - it was him and I all.weekend.long!  Guess what?? We still like each other and we can still have a great time together!  Its always weird not having the boys around and its really hard to not talk about them all of the time - but we did a good job; of course we missed them, but we are so thankful for this time together!

We said goodbye to the boys Saturday morning.  I redeemed my Mother's Day gift and got a mani/pedi!  I went on a run 2 out of 3 days.  We did a little shopping.  We went to the movies.  We went to Cold Stone.  We went to the Snoqualmie Casino for dinner.  I cleaned the boys rooms for them.  All beds have clean sheets.  All closets/drawers are full of clean clothes.  The house is spic and span and has stayed that way for over 24 hours.  We went out for drinks last night and watched the Sounders Game.  I learned I am still a light weight.  Josh likes to kiss his wife after a sweaty run.  Happy Memorial Day.  We go to pick up the boys in about an hour and I.CANNOT.WAIT!!!

I'm ready for my house to be messy and loud again!!  I love you Josh - thanks for spending your weekend with me!

Biking

Josh found this awesome park with bike courses right down the street from our home - so we took Zane last night.  We only look at 2 of them, but I am told there are many more throughout - can't wait to check out more!  He needs to build up his confidence and break/steering control a little before we'll let him go on any "bigger" ones, but he is so anxious to go back and try again!  He did really good for a little squirt!!  I took a video, but can't figure out how to get it from my iPhone to my blog, so if anyone knows, let me know!  For now, enjoy a few pictures!

Brenda I bet Tate (& Kennedi) would love these tracks we found - you should bring their bikes next time you come out!!

Photo-a-Day {Morning}

I came into work a little late today - so was able to get some morning snuggles in with my boys, I LOVED it!

I apologize that I cut one of each of their eyes off!

Photo-a-Day {Plastic}

I'm behind in my photo a day, so you'll see some scattered ones here and there to help me catch up.

Trying to get more water in my diet - my new favorite water bottle...I'm very picky about water bottles (their spouts mostly).

Swim Lessons

Zane started swim lessons again last night - I am vowing to keep in enrolled and not stop until he can actually swim!  I think if I put it on the blog, then it will help me be held accountable!!!  He really did a good job last night though!  I love the small class sizes!

Took time out to flirt!

Park Fun

Last evening we had a couple friends over and of course we had to head to the park since it wasn't raning!  I love that the guys pretty much "maned" the kids and us girls got to sit and talk the entire time!  Thanks dads!

Beat the Bridge - Team Zane {Year Three}

Yesterday was our much anticipated Beat the Bridge to Beat Diabetes fundraising walk and yes of course, we had Team Zane out there again!  Zane was not feeling 100% yesterday and his blood sugars weren't helping at all, but he persevered and did awesome!  He started the walk with a blood sugar of 480 and ended with a blood sugar of 37 - that roller coaster didn't stop him one bit, he walked and ran the entire 4 miles!  I am always proud of him, but yesterday was the icing on the cake - he is my little hero!  No one but another Type 1 will understand how crappy you feel with an extremely high or low blood sugar, including myself, I have no idea what it feels like, but from what I've heard its pure hell - so for him to push through like that made a mama proud to say the least.

Be prepared for a photo-dump!

3 Girls & 5 Boys

Lori and her two boys (Andrew & Mason) and Brooke and her boy (Will) came over Saturday evening for dinner, to check out the new place and let the boys all play!  It was a lot of fun!  The boys all played together great and us girls enjoyed our time gossiping catching up and laughing together!

Sadly, I didn't get a picture of Baby Will, but I did get a picture of Brooke's other "son" Gus - he seemed to like giving Landon kisses :)

Community Garage Sale

We participated in our first Community Garage Sale on Saturday.  We did pretty good even with the rain - but personally I think its too much work and would rather just walk around to see what other people are selling!

I set up a Lemonade stand for Zane to try and rake in a few more dollars for his Beat the Bridge team and despite the rain, he did pretty good!  He made $7.05, most of those were just donations, only a few kids actually took the Lemonade, haha!  He had fun though!

Papa's Beach

These pictures are from a couple weeks ago, but I just got them from my FIL yesterday!  Landon LOVES Papa's Beach and talks about it constantly!  So it was fun to see some pictures of him down on it!  The boys are probably heading back there this coming weekend for a night, so hopefully the weather will hold out for them to enjoy "Papa's Beach" again!

Photo-a-Day {Favorite Song}

Not sure how to really take a picture of my favorite song...so I did a Google image search for something to use a picture.  My current favorite songe is "Just Give Me A Reason" by Pink featuring Nate Ruess (from Fun).  I can't get enough of this song - which is good since I think I hear it 5 times a day just during work hours - little over played, but I love it!  And no, there is no reason why I love it - Josh and I aren't "bent" - just love it!

Photo-a-Day {Memories}

Life before having to weigh every piece of food that goes into his mouth down to the gram - that is something I miss sometimes - so my memory is a photo of Zane eating freely before his diagnosis.

Photo-a-Day {Friends}

Got to love when the "photo-a-day" assignment works out perfectly!  Today, just so happened to be Zane's class picture day at school!!  He's the tallest kid - cracks me up, I was always the shortest kid!!

Mother's Day

My mother's day was very low key; which is always good considering 3 out of 6 have been spent in the ER! I woke up to my boys singing their little lungs out - which isn't as cute at 7 a.m. as you might think it is!  I got up with the boys - even though I was really secretly hoping Josh would love their singing so much that he'd offer to take them downstairs and listen to it there!  So what if he worked until midnight the night before!!

Anyway - Zane was uber excited to give me his gift he made for me at school, so he gave it to me the minute we walked downstairs!  He made a finger print flower on a coffee mug, but I was instructed that the coffee mug isn't to be used to drink anything out of because the paint would wash off, so I was to use it for a pencil holder :)  No problem, buddy!!

The boys were hungry, so being the awesome mom I am - even on Mother's Day I made them a pancake breakfast - which they devoured!

Around 9 or so, they finally made enough noise for daddy to get up!  He then gave me my gift - which was a gift certificate for a mani/pedi at a place in town!  I am very excited to redeem that.  I think its so cute that he went into a nail salon to get it - I'm sure he felt like a fish out of water in there (even though, yes, I know many men get their nails "done" these days - not my man though)!  Very thoughtful.

Landon decided that two cups was better than one.

We headed to Red Robin for lunch, grocery shopping and then Josh took off for work - so pretty much business as usual!  I got to spend the whole day with the two reasons I get to celebrate this day and nothing could be better!  I got some more decorating done around the house (I'm having too much fun with that) and later in the afternoon we went to visit my mom and grandma - a very good day all around!

Happy Mother's Day to all mom's, step-mom's, mom-figures, mom's to be & women who want to be mom's!!  I hope it was a great day for everyone!

Photo-a-Day {Mom}

If you ever asked me when I was little what I wanted to be when I grew up, I would have told you "a mom and a teacher (sometimes I'd say doctor)"...obviously the latter two didn't happen - but I thank God that the "mom" thing happened!  I was the little girl that had 9 Cabbage Patch kids that I really thought were "my babies"! I went from wanting 10 kids (when I was a little girl) to 2 kids - pretty glad I came to my senses on that one!!  I always wanted boys too - so I guess some things really do work out the way you dreamed that they would!

Mason's Heart

My good friend Megan who I went to college with and also work with has a 2 year old cutie named Mason (she also has a 3 year old daughter Avery and an 11 year old daughter Sierra).  About 6-8 mos ago at a routine doctor's appointment it was discovered that Mason had a heart murmur.  That in itself isn't usually a big deal, most of the time they correct themselves.  Fast forward a couple months and Mason was sick with a bad upper respiratory cold and his Nana (thankfully Megan's mom is a nurse) who was watching him that day noticed that the area around his mouth was a blueish/gray color and had Megan make him a doctor appt ASAP.  At that appt, his heart sound a little more irregular, so the doctor referred Mason to cardiology (scary referral for a parent to receive).  At his cardiology appt it was determined that he had a hole in his little heart - after more appointment and more tests/ultrasounds it was decided that he needed to have surgery to repair the little hole.  The surgery was mandatory, but was not an emergency, the doctor just said within the next year.  Mason had his surgery Thursday of this week and thankfully did GREAT!!  This has been an emotional and physical roller coaster for Megan and Matt, they are so happy the surgery is over and they can now breathe again!

The boys and I went to visit Mason at Children's today after Elmo (and Josh left for work)!  He was sound asleep on daddy when we got there, but soon woke up and was all smiles!  He still has one drainage tube left that they hope to remove tomorrow.  Mason is very proud of his incision and asks everyone if they want to see his "crack"!  I asked him if it hurt and he said "nope"!  He is doing wonderful!  It was so great to see him - and see with our own eyes that he was indeed ok!!

ELMO!

We took the boys to go see Sesame Street Live today at the Tacoma Dome!  Next time we ever go to anything that requires buying tickets ahead of time I will be sure to not trust my hand written calendar for the showtime and actually look at the tickets themselves before heading out!  We go there about 10:55 a.m., show started at 11...I was a little surprised as we walked closer to the dome that there weren't any other stragglers like us showing up 5 mins before show time.  I looked down at our tickets t to figure out where our seats were so I knew what door to go in and realized the show started at 10:30 a.m. - whoops!  I guess its better than it starting at 10 a.m., but still, I felt bad!  The boys didn't seem to really notice or care, so I guess it was all good in the long run!

His face isn't telling the truth...he really was happy to be there!

I am a sucker for pictures from behind - even a bigger sucker when they are my three favorite guys!!
