Baseball

Zane has a little fascination with playing baseball right now - he asked to go to the "baseball park" the other evening so he could practice his "hitting".  This is something that will probably not happen often when I'm by myself with both kids - Landon almost received his first concussion, he doesn't quite understand that standing behind the batter is not the brightest idea.

See Landon playing chicken with the bat and the ball?

Sobering Visual

I saw this picture on another blog I read and I wanted to post it here on mine too - its a sobering visual of just what our kids living with Type 1 have to endure on a weekly basis.  This is representing 1.5 weeks of their life - mind you, it is not showing the 80+ finger pokes the child is also receiving during just 1.5 weeks.

To say that these kids are brave and tough is an understatement in my opinion.

Welcome to the world...

My great friend Brenda welcomed her 3rd baby this afternoon.  Brenda has never found out the gender of any of her kids and although I find that annoying when I am trying to plan a shower for her, I do find it very exciting at the same time!!!  I'm happy to announce...IT'S A GIRL!!!  Mommy and baby are doing wonderful and big brother and big sister couldn't be more thrilled with their new family member!

Zane and I headed up to the hospital tonight to snuggle the little lady and of course I took the opportunity to snap a few photos!!

Sprinklers & Water Guns

There aren't words to describe my excitement in our weather right now - love, love, love!  We got home from work/daycare tonight to find some neighbors in the backyard playing with a sprinkler and water guns.  Zane was delighted when his little friend asked if he could play with them - don't think I've seen him change into his swimsuit so fast in my life!

Zane even enjoyed his dinner outside tonight!

After dinner - Landon joined in on the summertime fun!

Poor kid couldn't catch a break from the squirt guns,
he loved every second of being squirted!!

Then he got one to play with - but couldn't figure out how to shoot it!

So, he did the next best thing - drank from it!

Then to end the night, Zane's friend got him good!!

Yay, summer!!!

All Star

My good friend Brenda's 8 year old son Tate was chosen for an All Star baseball league recently and the boys and I were finally able to make it to one of his games yesterday.  Due to the boys sleeping in a bit, we got a late start and missed a part of the game, but what we did get to see was a lot of fun!  Zane has just started getting into baseball (actually, just got his first glove coincidentally on Saturday), so I knew he'd enjoy it!  He spent most of the time we were there playing with Tate's sister Kennedi, but what he did watch of the game he thoroughly enjoyed!  On the way home he asked me if he could play baseball like Tate and I told him we could look into T-ball next summer!

Landon kept busy with Kennedi's My Little Ponies :)

Landon was a little upset about Tate's team not winning their game
 - poor kid takes it so hard!

Splash Park

We had plans Saturday to meet up with my friend Dakota and her daughter Claire for a little playdate for the kiddos.  Dakota and I have been trying to plan a playdate for these two for months and it seems like everytime we get a date set, something happens and one of us has to cancel. We were both determined not to cancel this one!  We set this one up awhile ago and were crossing our fingers that the weather would cooperate so we could meet up somewhere outside and let the kids run wild - thankfully, those fingers crossed worked!  It was in the mid-80's on Saturday and the kids had a blast playing in the water while Dakota and I caught up on life with kids and Type 1!

I love this picture - you can't see his face, but Zane is completely
cracking up watching Claire drink water out of the frog!!

Thanks for hanging out with us Dakota, Dave, Claire and Grace - we can't wait for the next time!!

Independence Day

We had a GREAT 4th this year - we headed over to a friend of mine from work's house and lucky for us (especially, lucky for Zane), she lives where its legal to do fireworks!  I stopped by a fireworks stand on the way home from picking Zane up Tuesday night - he thought that was the coolest place ever!  He wanted it all - but I did good and only wasted spent $20!  Wednesday night couldn't come fast enough for him!!

Zane was beyond excited when we got there and he saw the trampoline!

These 2 girls were all over him as soon as we got there - such a little ladies man already!  I'm pretty sure he never even asked them their names too - classy, I know!

Just my cute boys!

Zane enjoyed some BBQ chicken after his first round of jumping...by the looks of the BBQ sauce all over his face, I think he liked it!

And in case you are wondering - yes, Landon was there and he too had a great time!

Just so you mom's out there don't freak out - no, my 18 mos old was not drinking a can of soda (even though it was diet!) - it wasn't open!

Wasn't a huge fan of the trampoline when others were bouncing on there too!

Yep, Josh and I were there too :)

Time for fireworks!!

The hostess :)

This was Zane's first year doing any sort of fireworks (even sparklers) and it turned out to be Landon's first time too (with our very close help of course).  Poor Zane had to wait 4.5 years to do his first sparkler and Landon only had to wait 1.5 years - guess that's perk of being the youngest!  We all had a great time and the boys did AWESOME staying up way past their bedtimes and keeping great attitudes the entire night - we might just be invited back again next year!
