Donuts for Dads

Last Friday, Zane's school held an event for dad's called Donuts for Dad before school.  I had told Josh about this a few times and Zane was very excited for it.  Apparently, when telling Josh about it - I neglected to tell him what time it started (whoops)!!! Regardless though, the event was supposed to be from 7:45-8:30 a.m. - they arrived at 8:20 and it was already cleaned up (apparently they ran out of donuts by 8:10) :(  So even if I didn't tell him the time - they were still there with 10 mins to spare and it was already over - very disappointing.  When Josh texted me this information that morning - I was so upset. My heart broke for Zane.  I knew he was so upset.

I pick Zane up from school on Friday's, so after picking him up we headed to Krispy Kreme to grab a donut just for him and daddy so they could have their own "Donuts for Dad" at home that night!  He was happy about that and I think...I hope it made up for him missing it that morning.

Stone Soup

Zane's long awaited Kindergarten school musical finally happened last week - Stone Soup the Musical! He has been looking so forward to this day, he was one of the villagers!  I had been hearing about the story and hearing him sing the songs for it for weeks!  I just love how excited he was!  The kids did great job!  They all knew their lines perfectly, they all acted right on queue and were so excited to be up in front of their families and other kids in the school!  Zane's group was his class and one of the half-day K classes - the other half day and full day classes performed earlier in the day.

Two downers about the musical:

1. It was at 1:30 on a Wednesday afternoon.  I was so upset when I got the email with this information. Every other grade in the school had their concerts in the evening - but there's was in the middle of a work day.  Of course I don't mind using vacation time to go see his play - but there were so many other parents (like Josh) who couldn't be there because of the time conflicting with their work (or in his case, sleep) schedules. Thankfully you can purchase a DVD of the musical (which we did), so we can show it to those who missed, but still a bummer.

2. Half of the school also came to watch the musical (the other half watched the earlier performance) - that is great, but they had the students all sit on the floor and the chairs for the parents were behind all of those kids.  I get that the kids are smaller and should be in front - but com'n - how are we parents supposed to take good pictures of our kids' acting debuts with hundreds of children in front of us - putting us so far back.  Had I known that before going, I would've grabbed my longer lens for my camera (already grabbed my medium one thinking that was good enough).  Oh well - live and learn!

Regardless of those downers - they did great and I am so glad that I was able to watch him perform with his classmates!

After the show I went to talk to his music teacher and I received one of the best compliments a parent can get. She said she loved having Zane in her class and that he was "on it" and regularly used him as an example to other kids on how they should be acting! That's my boy!

These are the best pictures I could get.

Thankfully parents were dismissed before the actors,
so I was able to grab this quick shot up front before leaving!

Also grabbed a shot of him walking back to his classroom afterwards.
His socks are over his pants from the play - thankfully he doesn't normally dress like that!

I headed back up to school to pick him up after school was out and we
went out for a little fro yo to celebrate his big debut!

Swimmer

Kid still adores swimming lessons - asks everyday if this is the day to go!

Bye Patch {for now}

Zane had his 3 mos follow up appointment with the optometrist this morning.  All good news!  He was told he was done with patch therapy...for now anyway!  She wants to see him again in August before school starts up again to make sure his left eye didn't decide to go all lazy on us him again (which can happen sometimes).  We are very happy to be done with the patch!  Zane does know there is a chance he'll have to wear it again for awhile, but for now we are doing a happy dance!!

Pretty happy about it!

Happy Easter {2014}

Happy Easter from our family to yours!  We had a great day filled with chocolate, eggs, church, family and a reminder of the true reason for this day.  He is risen; He is risen indeed!

The boys woke up to fun-filled baskets including their very own Ferby's!  Zane is over the moon with his - Landon is a little creeped (rightfully so) of his!  Landon's was "sleeping" and he picked it up to walk into the living room with it and it "woke up" and started talking and I thought he was going to have a toddler heart attack...he dropped that thing so fast.  I am still laughing about it as I type this, it was pretty hilarious!

After going through their basket loot - we had a yummy bunny breakfast and then headed off to church. Then it was time for more family!  We headed to Josh's parents house and had a delicious lunch and another egg hunt for the boys!  What a great day!

Hunt & Dye

We headed out to our first Snoqualmie Easter Egg Hunt today and it was a success!  I had heard from others to prepare for complete mayhem down there - so I packed my patience and headed down early to make sure we got a parking spot.  It was anything but mayhem!  It went perfectly.  Zane and Landon were in different age groups for the hunt, so I had to stay with Landon and leave Zane to himself to hunt for eggs (which he didn't mind and he was right next to us, so I could see him the whole time). Both collected a basket full of candy filled eggs and had smiles beaming on their faces the entire time - I would call it a success.  We opted not to wait in the enormous line to visit the Easter Bunny and thankfully both kids were totally fine with that!

After the hunt was over - we headed home to dye eggs.  I would definitely say that we have had prettier eggs in our dying history, but the boys had fun and that's all that matters!

Now both boys are getting ready for bed - they can't wait to go to sleep so the Easter Bunny can come!

Pockets

Zane has this new thing where he walks around with his hands in his pockets all.the.time!  I don't know why, but I think it's so cute and makes him look so much more grown up!  Now stop it - you don't need to grow up anymore!
