Beach Bums.

What a great President's Day we had today! Josh ended up working this past Saturday so he was able to have today off to play with Zane and I; what a treat!! We couldn't have asked for better weather and what better way to spend a beautiful day with family than at the beach!! We headed out to Seahurst Park and walked the beach, threw rocks, drug sticks in the sand and watched our not so little boy climb up the big toy all by himself!

Happy Valentine's Day 2010.

I have never been the biggest fan of this Hallmark holiday, I just think its weird to have one day set aside every year that you are supposed to tell/show someone that you love them...shouldn't that be every day? Anyway, with that being said, I still like to do something little for my Valentine's because it is fun and I do like the red and pink colors that seem to adorn every store at this time!

This year was a little crazy. My mom had bought tickets for her and I to go see the musical Annie for my birthday and our show was this afternoon. The musical was great and a little nostalgic since my mom took me to see that movie in the theater about 5 times when I was really little...I'm not joking about the 5 times either!! While she and I were at the musical, Josh and Zane were hanging out together at home!

Josh and I have never really exchanged much for gifts on Valentine's Day, but this year he surprised the heck out of me! He had mentioned earlier in the week that a couple of his watches needed new batteries, so I took them into the jeweler to get them changed out...sounds like a corny gift, but he wanted it, so he got it. Josh surprised me with 2 tickets to go see George Strait, Reba McIntyre and LeAnn Womack next month...the biggest surprise was that he was going to be my date and he hates country music...another huge surprise was the fact I had no idea they were coming to town and I listen to country radio all of the time, haha! Needless to say I felt like an idiot after opening his gift to me, realizing that I put no thought into his watch batteries! Anyway, I always knew that I had a wonderful husband, but he really won me over with that today! Zane enjoyed a couple new books and new matching game!

By the time I got home from Annie today it was time to start dinner! I had searched the internet high and low this week for a delicious meal to make tonight and I think I succeeded! We had marinated flank steak, roasted garlic potatoes, roasted asparagus (for Josh), corn (for me), bread! We didn't skimp on dessert either...I made a chocolate and marshmallow molten lava cake (Zane had a cookie)!

As much as I say this day isn't my favorite holiday of the year, there is a big part of me that truly does enjoy it. I think I have the best husband and son out there (and I know you all think that your husband/wife and child(ren) are the best as you should) and it is nice to know that I am loved and I hope that a day never goes by that they don't realize how much I truly love them and am so blessed to have them in my life.

Cracking himself up here! I will never tire of his giggle I tell ya!!

Knuckles.

I think Josh has been trying to teach Zane how to do "knuckles" or "fist bump" since Zane was probably 6 mos old and finally it has caught on for the little fella! He loves to do it now and will just walk up to you say "knuckles?", its just so darn cute that you can't turn down the offer and you find yourself getting your knuckle all ready for him to "bump"! We went out to dinner with our friends Derek and Emma last night and Zane was having a blast giving Derek knuckles before we left!

Farm Life.

Josh had to work today, so after Zane's "messy" class we drove out to Buckley to visit my dad. My dad called me on our way out there asking if he could take Zane up to the feed-store by himself once we got there; I of course said yes, but warned him that Zane may not love the ride (b/c I wasn't there). So on the way to my dad's I was pumping Zane up telling him he was going to ride in Grandpa Hay's BIG truck and I told him that mommy would not be going with him and he kept saying "ok" and kept talking about the BIG truck. I knew that the act of pumping him up would never fully prepare him and I was right...he was not thrilled at all, but my dad said he only cried until they got down the driveway and had fun there on out (which I totally expected)!

My poor baby not happy to be going on a drive without mommy!

After their adventure into town we had lunch and then headed out to feed the horses, pet the bunnies and spread straw in the chicken coop! Zane made great use out of the new boots that grandpa bought him at the feed store! He talked about his adventures in the truck and out on the "farm" the whole way home...well, until he fell asleep that is!

Dress for the Mess!

Zane started a new class at our community center today called "Dress for the Mess" the description in the catalog was basically a room full of kids doing messy projects that you don't want to do at home because you'd have to clean it up! They were right. One problem though...my kid doesn't like to get messy. It was actually almost embarrassing, he was the only boy out of 5 kids and the only kid that threw a fit when asked to get his hands dirty!! After a few tears (from him, not me) and a lot of coaxing (from me) he finally got ONE hand dirty...would not get them both dirty! I called Josh afterwards and told him that he needed to toughen his boy up and take him next week and show him how to get dirty and enjoy it!!!

Notice in all of the pictures how only one hand is participating?!!

Hoppity-Hop

Zane had his last tumbling class last night and they brought out the Hoppity-Hops (or that's what they were called when I was a kid anyway)!! The coach wasn't to sure that any of the kids would be able to figure these things out, but to her surprise all of the kids did wonderful! They had a blast hopping on these things...I need to find one for home!

Here is a video of my little hopper!

Here's one more video to share...I swear bubbles are like crack for my kid!
