It's no secret that I'm a wannabe photographer! I love taking pictures of my own kids and even enjoy taking pictures of my friends and their kids. I always feel a mix of anxiety and excitement when a friend asks if I'll take family pictures for them. I'm not a professional and they know that, but they are nice enough to let me practice and maybe, just maybe in the end they get 1 or 2 pictures (out of over 200, ha) that they actually like! And besides, I'm cheap...what else can you ask for?!
A few weeks ago my friend Lisa asked if I'd take family photos for her - I was happy to oblige! Turns out, she liked a few of them - win, win! I had a great time with them and was so happy that Josh came along to be my make shift assistant! He has a way with getting the kids to smile - although Andrew was a tough code to crack at times, but regardless, both kids are adorable and heck - the whole family is adorable!

That time he was benched...
There is no hiding the fact that Zane LOVES soccer - he absolutely loves it. He also loves to hog the ball! He is all about scoring and winning and that is it. In my
The problem is...he's hogging the ball and not passing as often as he should be. His coaches have been trying to work on this with him - they tell him that they know he can score, but he needs to not run up the score and pass the ball. Telling Zane not to score is like telling a dog not to pee on grass. The coaches told the team after half-time that they all had to pass the ball 4 times before they were allowed to take a shot on goal - that wasn't meshing with Zane. He tried, he really did try...but almost every time he'd try to pass the ball to a teammate it would get intercepted and he'd get so mad. So once it was passed to him, he just took shots on goal...coach pulled him and benched him for a little bit! The coach was not being mean, wasn't yelling at him or telling him he was being a poor sport or anything...the coach was just trying to explain to him that everyone on the team needs a fair chance. The coach is absolutely right - no one likes a ball hog. I talked to Zane on the way home and tried explaining this to him more and I think he's slowly starting to understand. It's so hard at this age though...
I'd be lying if I said I wasn't proud of him and wasn't impressed with his playing. I absolutely LOVE to watch him play, I love his passion for the game. I really hope this is something he continues loving and growing in and that we have many years of watching him down the road. I kinda like being a soccer mom :)
Watching
Love this picture...
Landon loves to be where Zane is and when Zane's not playing, he wants to be on the sidelines right along with him.
Apple Pickin'
We have two apple trees in our back yard and the kids have been dying to pick some apples. They have been asking all summer if they are ready yet and finally they are! Landon headed out to pick a few the other day - well had a taste and decided they were delicious!
Rally Car Racing
Josh took Zane to go watch a rally car race last weekend; I don't know much about it, but I do know that they were gone all.day.long and I know they had a great time! Sure glad the hubs was good at snapping some photos!
While the boys were out enjoying the races Landon and I enjoyed the company of my friend Lisa and her kiddos Natalie & Andrew! After terrorizing our house we decided to take the little kiddlin's out for a bit...after driving around for a bit and having no clue where to take them, we settled on the outlet mall in North Bend and let them ride a few of the quarter rides! The mom's got to do a little shopping and the kids had a blast on the rides; it was a win-win!

World Cup
The boys really got into the US World Cup song during the actual World Cup - they would watch it on YouTube and sing/chant along with it. The World Cup has been over for quite awhile now, but out of nowhere Landon pulled it up to watch again the other day...goofball!
Taking the Bull by it's Horns
A couple weeks ago our neighborhood had a block party on it's "main street" - we didn't have a lot of time to cruise it since we had a wedding to get to that afternoon...but we did stay long enough for Zane to ride the mechanical bull! He waited in line quite awhile to do this and of course had a blast!
