Time to gush about my first born...

Yesterday, out of the blue I received an email from another mom who also happens to work at Zane's school.  She informed me that there was an assembly at school today and that I may want to be there and I might be pleasantly surprised.  Thank the Lord I have a flexible boss and job - gotta love the 1 day's notice.  I was very intrigued as to what this assembly might be about and why I should be there - obviously I knew it meant something good for Zane, but what?!  He didn't mention anything about the assembly last night, so we didn't either - maybe he didn't know either??  I took off from work this morning, headed home and grabbed Josh and up to school we walked...

We couldn't be more prouder of this kid.  They handed out 1 Sportsmanship Award to every grade level - Zane Alexander was called up first for the Kindergarteners!  Out of over 100 Kinders he was chosen by multiple staff as the most Sportsmanship like.  WOW.  He is known for cheering on all of his friends, even if they aren't on his team.  He is known for always helping a friend up when they fall and high fiving anyone who did a good job.  He is also known for always congratulating others who tried their best at something, but may not have succeeded that time.  He is an example to live by in most ways when it comes to this stuff!

He had no idea this was happening - he was shocked and you could tell.  As soon as the principal (Mr. Wilson) called his name you could hear so many kids yelling "yay, Zane", it was so awesome.  Great Sportsmanship all around today from every single kid.  No one was upset that one person got one over another - everyone was happy for each other - it was awesome.

Fun in the Sun...Again!

I've said it before and I'll say it many more times I'm sure...we kinda sorta love our neighborhood!  The only thing I'd change is if there were a couple boys in the neighborhood for my boys to play with, but they don't seem to be bothered with only having girls around - so I shouldn't either!  These kids have such a good time together - I love hearing them laugh and giggle and dare each other to do silly things!

In case you are wondering where Landon is in all of these photos - he was napping.  That old saying "you snooze, you lose" rang true for the poor kid yesterday.

Bike Rodeo

The boys and I headed out to the annual Bike Rodeo held here in Snoqualmie yesterday while Josh was at work.  This is an awesome event for kids to learn bike safety and just have fun.  Everything is free - free helmets (which we skipped, since the boys have nice helmets already), free entertainment, free lunch etc.  The kids have a great time and learn some new rules of the road while their at it.  It's a sad reason why this even exists, but what a great way to remember little Tanner Jeans and educate kids.

Ouch

It always amazes me how different my two boys are.  I mean - they have the exact same parents and have been raised essentially the same way - but they are polar opposites on so many levels.  I like it, I really do, but at times it still does just baffle me.

Zane is so tough when it comes to his diabetes - he can take 10-20 finger pokes a day and not bat an eye at it.  He used to have 5-8 shots a day and not flinch at any of them.  Now we change his pump every 2-3 days and his CGM every 7-14 days and doesn't let him bother him at all.  BUT if he takes a tumble and scrapes his knee (or even doesn't scrape anything) - it is like the world has ended.  Drama at it's highest!  I am sure part of this is because of me.  When he was an only child - I probably doted on him too much; coddled him more than I should've.  He was my only (and my first) baby, I had the time and I didn't know any different!  He's getting better, because am on more of a "get up, you're fine" mindset now days, but there still usually is a bit of drama!

Landon - this kid runs full speed ahead at all times, rarely ever walks - always running.  His poor little body looks like we took a whip to his legs, he is covered in bruises and scrapes.  Never.does.he.cry (ok, not never, but very rarely).  I almost wonder if he even can feel pain sometimes (I do know he can, but I wonder still at times).  He falls and before anyone can say anything, he is up and running again.  The top half and bottom half of his body just don't seem to go at the same pace, so one half is always getting ahead of the other and a tumble happens.

So seeing him like this, albeit looks painful - he hardly flinched at it.  Only started to whimper once I asked him if he was ok after he fell.  After a little love from daddy and mommy, he was ready to go again.  I'm sure it's only a matter of time before we end up in the ER with this kid for some sort of injury (although, I pray to God we really don't ever).

Seabrook {2014}

We finally made it back out to Seabrook - the last time we were there, Zane was 3 and Landon was almost 6 months old!  We actually rented the exact same house, but this time we went with another family our friends the Nilsson's!  This time, they had a 3 year old and an almost 6 month old!

We had a great time...if you've never been, I highly recommend going!  Just make sure to go off season when it's a little cheaper - the houses are pricey no matter what, but you can save a little going before June!  I don't have much to say about our trip except it was awesome!  The weather was great, the kids were great and we just had a good time!  Here is a major photo dump (see Facebook for even more pictures):
