Muffins {Donuts} with Mom

This morning was "Muffins with Mom" before school started today.  Zane was a little perplexed why they were serving donuts when it was clearly called MUFFINS with Mom!  I prefer donuts over muffins, so this mom was happy about the change up!  Landon was pretty excited to get to join in on the fun this morning too!  He never wants to leave when we are at Zane's school!

Appreciating the Teachers

Zane has a wonderful Kindergarten teacher and an awesome IA (Instructional Aid).  When you're in full day Kinder most school districts require tuition to be paid - this tuition goes to pay for the IA, so the teacher has help in the classroom.  Zane's IA is the one in the room who helps him with his Diabetes care (when the nurse isn't there) - she holds a special place in my heart and you can tell she just adores Zane (which I love)!

This week was Teacher Appreciation Week and we were sure to do something special everyday for his teachers - I had so much fun putting this stuff together and Zane had a great time picking things out and coming up with ideas.  I don't think I have baked so much in one week in my life - thankfully we had a few left overs for us to enjoy too!

Monday - Flower for each teacher

Tuesday - Starbucks (w/their names on them!!) and a fresh baked muffin

Wednesday - Note cards and chocolate covered oreo pops (even gave the Librarian one today)

Thursday - Lemon Cheesecake balls (these are to die for people)

Friday - Butterscotch Peanut Butter Bars (again, to die for), Zane colored them each a picture and
made them each a card and then a framed tree with owls (and each kids' name on an owl).
His teacher loves owls!

I have Pinterest to thank for a lot of these ideas - of course I had to put the work into re-creating many of these things - but Zane and I had a great time spoiling his teachers!  They deserved every bit of this past week!

D-Fun

This is purely for documentation purposes, so I don't forget!  As much as Diabetes sucks most of the time - there are times when something funny happens that makes you realize there really are some silver linings to some very dark clouds!

Two a.m. this morning I am awoken to Zane saying ever so quietly and sweetly "Mom...mommy..." I'm in a dead sleep and am finally able to get my voice to work "what, what Zane, what's wrong"...I then hear "I'm high...I think I'm high"!

It wasn't funny at 2 a.m. - but it was sure funny to me this morning after I thought about the conversation.  If you didn't know him and didn't know he had Diabetes, it would be pretty odd to hear a 6 year old tell his mom that he was high!  Sure to get some strange looks out in public had the conversation happened there!

And in case you were wondering - he was indeed high.  Poor kid had a blood sugar of 458 (normal is between 80-150).  He's such a smart kid, even at 2 a.m.!

Mother-Son Mania

The ROA (which is the same as an HOA basically) held a Mother-Son Mania event this past Saturday; so the boys and I signed up to go!  I'm sure glad we did!  The theme was Seahawks Mania.  The event was held at Zane's school and lucky for us not a lot of people showed up!  The kids (and mom's) really were able to enjoy themselves with no lines for anything!

There was crafts, face painting, bouncy houses, laser tag, a bus full of video games, yummy treats and even BLITZ from the Seahawks himself!  That was a big surprise and one we all enjoyed!  I'm so glad I was able to spend this afternoon with my two beautiful boys!  My boys mean the world to me and I hope they always know that.

Fishing Derby

Josh and his dad took the boys to a Fishing Derby in town on Saturday while I was running my buns off!  Turns out Zane is a little fisherman - he took 2nd place!  Landon was too young to participate, but I hear he had a great time watching and enjoying a donut!  They had a great time and I'm so glad that I have a husband who knows how important taking pictures is to me!

His prize...a fishing pole! 

5 Miles

I ran my first 8K this past Saturday - the Cinco de Mayo run in Snoqualmie.  I didn't train for this like I should have, so I was very nervous.  The most I had ever run without stopping in my life was 3 miles...not a half a step more...3 miles was the limit.  Going into Saturday I was not sure how the heck I would be able to tack on 2 miles to my personal best and still be able to breathe and walk afterwards!  I guess what they say about running being 10% physical and 90% mental is right - because I did it!  I ran the entire 5 miles!  Did I want to stop?  Yes, many times!  Did I?  Nope!  I had a good friend from work (Belia) running with me and I don't think I could've done it without her!  She is an avid runner and knew just what to say to me and when - it was awesome!

Art Dog

Zane's class (actually all 5 Kindergarten classes) went on a field trip to go see the play Art Dog at the Seattle Children's Theatre today!  I had signed up to be one of the chaperones on this trip over a month ago - I had no idea that it would end up being an 80+ day - score!  What a great day to have off work and spend with my #1!

Each parent chaperone was assigned 2 kids - here are the two I had!  They were told by their teachers to hold hands whenever they were outside walking, so we could all manage to stay together - cute!

 After the play was over we headed outside to have our lunches and the kids discovered the fountain and off they went!  What a great day to be outside and near the water fountain!  I think everyone; parents included, had a great time.
