Good-bye Serna's

Our great friends Brian & Renee (and their three boys David, Ethan and Joshua) are on their way to Tennessee!  Brian is a helicopter pilot in the US Army and has been given orders to head for the south.  We have been friends with the Serna's since Josh's Bellingham days (I think he moved up there in 97 or 98) and they have been great friends.  I will miss our boys growing up together, but I know they are off to new adventures and thanks to social media we will never be far from stalking on each others families :)  And of course there is always the hope he will again have orders to come back to WA!  Brian just returned from his 2nd deployment and I am happy to report he is home safe!!  Brian, we are very proud of what you do for us and our country - please always stay safe and to both of you...stay in touch!!

There was a little going away party and belated 1st Birthday Party for Joshua this past weekend.  It was great to get together one last time...for now!

When we first arrived at the restaurant there were no highchairs available and I think there were 4 or 5 babies in our group.

Yay, finally two available...Vivienne and Landon fought hard for them too!

Thursday Night Soccer

Tonight was Zane's first Thursday night soccer, to be honest I was dreading it, work nights aren't the best nights to mess up our routine...but I have to say the night couldn't have been any better or gone any smoother!

As you might remember from an earlier post, we had originally signed up for a Saturday morning class, but due to some time changes in their schedule we had to change it up and do the Thursday night class instead. At first I was quite irritated with their mix up, but at the same time I am a firm believer that everything happens for a reason (finding that "reason" can be tough sometimes though, I know) - well, after who we met tonight, I believe that little matra more than ever!  Zane has two coaches (coach Chris and coach Emma) not long after class started, I noticed something on coach Emma's waistline and realized very quickly that it was an insulin pump!!

Are you serious???  Did we really just fall into a soccer class that one of the coaches themselves deals with the same day to day stuff that Zane does??  I instantly just started beaming with excitement!  What are the odds?!  I know most of you will have no idea what this means to me, but trust me, it means a lot.  After class was over I walked up to her and said "I hope you don't mind me asking, but is that an insulin pump you are wearing" (not sure why, but that was one of the most awkward questions I've ever asked anyone - I think I was afraid I was totally wrong and she'd be like "what the heck are you talking about, its my cell phone", haha), she sort of lit up when I asked her the question and said "yeah!" and I told her that Zane was diagnosed a year ago and I could see the excitement in her eyes, she instantly said "oh my gosh, are you serious?  If you guys need anything, have any questions, want any 'non-doctor' answers, I've had it since I was 8 (she's 21 now) and I will answer any of your questions"!!  We talked a little more and it turns out she is a counselor at the camp we are planning on sending Zane to this summer (week long day camp for T1's), she is bringing us more information on the camp next week!  Ok, that was a long paragraph - that most you won't give a crap about, but I felt it was important to document, so there!

Now onto Zane - he did AWESOME tonight, those coaches ran those 4, 5, 6 year olds HARD!  I know that my little man will be sleeping good tonight!!!  Zane is gaining so much control over the ball and really starting to look like he knows what he is doing and I couldn't be more proud!

Little brother did great too!!

On a roll...

Zane has been on a roll lately...he is so much fun right now!  He is becoming more and more animated and turning into quite the character!  I love it!

Happy Birthday Papa

Happy Birthday to one of the best papa's out there!

Valentine Decor

I have never been one to be really in to Valentine's Day - its not like I despised the day, but I just never have really gotten into it.  For some odd reason (I've yet to figure out what) I am SO into it this year!  I can't get enough of the red, pink, hearts, crafts, excitement surrounding the little Love day!  Josh thinks I'm into it because Zane is older now, I'm not sure if that's it since Zane has no idea what the day is nor is he really excited about it (due to the fact he has no idea what it is).  I've been really lucky and have married a man that loves Valentine's Day, so he has always made it special for me, even if I didn't really care about the day.  This year, I hope to make the day special for all 3 of the boys/man in my life!

Anyway, thanks to Pinterest I even have some Valentine decor up in my house!  Nice to copy other people's great ideas and make them my own in my house!!  Thank you to everyone who had the time to come up with these fun, cute ideas!

Its not much, but it sure is a lot more than I've ever had up in my house!
The heart banner idea I found here.

On one of my favorite blogs I stalk I found this adorable printable (Katie found the same one)!
I love it!

And I found this little gem via Pinterest as well!  Printed it out at Costco and framed her up!

Ok, that's enough mushy stuff for now folks :)

So Proud!

I arrived at daycare to pick Zane up tonight and noticed he had a medal around his neck.  I asked him if that was the medal he got at camp last summer and his teacher chimed in and said that Zane received that medal today because he volunteered to pick up a big mess in the classroom that he didn't make!!  Zane's unfortunately used to that now that he has a little brother, but its nice to know that he is taking that good behavior to school with him too!  Its the little things like this that make me so proud of my little man!!

Superbowl Sunday

We decided to hold a last minute Superbowl gathering at our house this last Sunday and I'm glad we did!  It was fun to have people over, eat some yummy, bad for you food, mix fruity drinks, watch the commercials and some of the game!

Zane goofing off before people showed up!

The three babies playing - for once Landon was out-numbered by girls!
(By the way, I promise you, Landon had pants on for most of the day
but for some reason all of the pictures I have of him, he is pant-less)!
