1st Field Trip

Zane is taking his first ever field trip today with his daycare/preschool. His class his headed to Spooner Farms to pick pumpkins and have loads of fun! He was so excited this morning, I think he's most excited about riding in the van!!

I won't lie, I'm a tad bit nervous - I really hope he doesn't get lost in the shuffle and they forget to check his blood sugar since he'll be running around a lot. I have faith in his teachers and know that they know what to do, but I also know they have 15+ other kids to also look after! I have said my prayers already and now just have to have faith and think happy thoughts because I know he is SO excited!!

I can't wait to pick him up tonight and hear all about it!!

*I just received a text message from a good friend of mine and her daughter's preschool class is at the same farm as Zane's today for a field trip (which I did know ahead of time) - and they found Zane!! She said he's doing great and she sent me this cute pic of Zane and Kennedi. I know she'll keep a good eye on him! Thanks Brenda, that text messages and pictures made my day!

1st Halloween Party

Zane was invited to his first ever Halloween party last night and I completely failed at taking pictures! But here are the few I did manage to take.

Halloween Crafts

Brooklyn & Christina came over Friday night for a little Halloween craft time and a Halloween movie!

Landon & Natalie

The kids and I headed over to visit little Natalie last week and I couldn't help but grab a picture of Landon and Natalie to show how they're growing!! I see a wedding in the future :)

Capes

Zane's birthday party is quickly approaching and I am starting to feel like I have bitten off more than I can chew once again! Slowly, but surely everything will get finished! His theme is Batman and my original plan was to make capes for all of the kids coming, but thankfully I came across a great website that sold capes for way cheaper than it would've probably been for me to buy the fabric, let alone the cost of my TIME that would be spent on these little suckers!

Once I received the capes in the mail, I realized they were just too plain (all black) and I wanted to do something to make them "pop", but again was crunched on budget and time! Thanks to good ol' Pinterest I learned how to "Freezer Paper Stencil"...anyone ever heard of this? Let me tell you, super easy, super cute and super addicting!!

Here's a little snapshot of how you do this easy, cute, addicting craft!

First you need to make your stencil on freezer paper, I used my Cricut to do the cutting for me, but of course you can free-hand it or print something off of the computer and trace/cut it:


The finished cut:


Iron the freezer paper stencil onto your fabric of choice:


Get some permanent fabric paint from JoAnn's or Michael's and paint the inside of your stencil:


Yellow for boys:


Pink for girls:


Let it dry and then peel off the stencil and voilà:


One little hint, put something behind where you're painting on the fabric as the paint bleeds through.

Now have fun ;)

Pumpkin Patch

We headed out to the pumpkin patch last night since the weatherman (who's always right, right?!?) was predicting it was going to be our last "nice" day for quite awhile! Zane had fun checking out all of the pumpkins and Landon enjoyed touching everything he could get his hands on. He was very curious about everything and as you will be able to see from the pictures, very serious about his time at the patch too! Probably not the best idea to head down right before his bedtime, but oh well, he did pretty well! Now daddy has the fun chore of digging out all of the guts and seeds of our 45lb pumpkin!









Absolutely impossible to get Zane to do a "real" smile these days and impossible to get a picture with both boys looking at the camera!

3 Month Follow-Up

Zane had his 3-month follow-up at Children's last Friday with his Endocrinologist and I'm happy to report he's doing great! His A1C went down from a 7.9 to a 7.2 and that makes this substitute pancreas a.k.a mama a happy camper!

The only little bummer of our visit was that we were informed that Zane is still on too little of a dose of Levimir (long acting insulin) to go on the pump we were considering (Omnipod). I am grateful that he is still on little doses don't get me wrong, but was looking forward to trying the pump route! We just aren't willing to consider any other pump at this time, so we will just wait and in due time his dose will go up and we'll talk about the pump again! For now, we'll be happy that he's on such tiny doses still and happy that we are doing such a good job on injections!





He looks forward to this white board more than anything every time we come, haha.
