Basketball.

Josh found a little Nerf basketball hoop for Zane's room today and put it up while Zane was in the bath...a fun surprise! They had fun playing a little one-on-one this evening before bedtime! He's close to dunking!!

Pizza on the grill.

Josh made his yummy pizza on the BBQ tonight...man I live for this stuff! We used a garlic and herb crust this time, so delish! Zane had fun helping daddy in the kitchen too, it was too cute not to snap a few pictures!

Easter 2010!

We had a great Easter at our house today! Zane made out like a bandit today, he had 4 different Easter Bunnies visit him today thanks to his grandparents, what a lucky kid! We woke up early this morning and headed off to church, then home to open up his first basket! I don't know why I go to the trouble of finding a bunch of fun, cute things for his basket, he is usually content with just 1 item in the basket for the whole day...I should remember this next year, haha! This year he was spoiled with cars, cars and more cars! I think our living room is turning into one of those crappy houses you see in some neighborhoods that have 20 cars parked on their lawn that don't run...that's what the inside of our house is beginning to look like!

We had a great morning/afternoon at home today as our little family and then we were lucky enough to have more family come over in the evening for a delicious dinner! My husband can cook up a pretty darn good salmon folks!

Happy Easter and remember the true meaning for today (even though the baskets and candy are fun)...He is Risen!!!

Digging in!

Yahoo more cars!

Dinner time!!

I can't believe she's 3!

My best friend's daughter Brooklyn turned 3 yesterday, I can't believe it! The day after Christina's baby shower for Brooklyn was the day I found out I was pregnant with Zane (well, didn't know it was Zane at the time, but it was a baby, that I knew for sure)!! I am just amazed how far we have all come over the last 3 years. Brooklyn is the sweetest, smartest, loving, attitude filled little girl I've ever met and I'm so happy that Zane is able to grow up with her as a friend! Happy Birthday Brooklyn, we love you so much!

Partying it up!

Playing "Elefun", BIG HIT...guess what will be on Zane's birthday list this year!

Its her party and she'll cry if she wants to!

1st Easter Egg Hunt

My friend Karena and I took our boys to their first Easter Egg Hunt yesterday at the Woodland Park Zoo. It was so flippin' windy and cold out, but we tried to persevere...I say tried because that's about all we were able to do...we failed! Zane was NOT lovin' it at all. He wanted to "go see animals" and that was it, he could care less about some empty plastic eggs, haha! I tried to make him love it, but I failed at that as well! We were able to walk around to see a few animals, so that ended up making him happy! We'll try again next year, hopefully with better weather and better luck!

Easter Eggs

Zane and Brooklyn dyed their first Easter Eggs tonight and they loved it! I must say it was a lot less time consuming and messy as we thought it would be...I think we were prepared for a disaster, but it was relatively uneventful! The kids did so good dropping their eggs into the dye and tried to be so patient so the eggs could absorb as much color as possible! What a fun night!

Goofing off before dying eggs. I promise he is not choking her here, I told him to put his arm around Brooklyn and this is what we got!

Learning my new camera!

Let the dying begin!

The finished product!

After dying the eggs, they both got to paint one non-edible egg! I got this idea from my friend Cori and I'm so glad she shared it with me! The idea is to have the kiddo paint one egg every year and mark the year on the egg somewhere, that way the eggs can be used as decoration each year and you can see how their painting skills improve (hopefully) 0ver the years! Brooklyn & Zane loved doing this and I'm very excited for the new tradition!

Good thing the paint is non-toxic!

The unexpected is sometimes the best medicine.

Have you ever had one of those days (or weeks) that you were feeling a little inadequate and someone does something completely unexpected and makes you feel better even though they didn't realize they were helping you?!

A lot of times I feel like Zane misses out on so much because I have to work full time. After work everyday its a rush to get home, dinner, bathed and bed and I feel like I don't get more than 45 mins with him on a weeknight sometimes. There are a lot of mornings that he just doesn't want to get dressed or head out the door, he just wants to sit on my lap watching his shows and cuddle. I would give anything to be able to sit there and cuddle him all day long, but alas bills have to be paid, so we must go to work/daycare. It really tugs at my heartstrings when he is like this in the mornings or wants me to lay in his bed with him at bedtime - sometimes I get the guilt bug and its hard to know if everything we're doing is the right thing.

This morning I got into work and found an email from a friend of mine who I don't talk to very often. We go through spurts of emailing a lot to not talking for a few months, to emailing again etc. She's one of those friends that you can pick up right where you left off though when you do start talking again, so that's really cool. Her email completely caught me offguard especially because she had no idea how I'd been feeling lately, but aside from catching me offguard it really made my day. Thanks Jenn S.!

Here is the simple email that made my day:

Hey there stranger –

I was just catching up on your blog and had to tell you that I think you are the best mom ever. I have no idea how you have time to work full-time, do all those fun things with Zane, and document it all in an awesome blog to share with everyone. Zane is a lucky boy to have you as a mommy. Hope you are doing great!

Jenn
