First Bon Fire!

While in Georgia Zane had the opportunity to enjoy his first bon fire and roast his first marshmallow (although he refused to eat it, so I had to do the dirty work, haha!). He was fascinated by the experience and I can see more bon fires to come in our future!!

Peachtree City, GA

Zane and I have arrived safely back at home from our trip to Georgia! All in all it was a good trip, but I was never so happy to see my bed again as I was when I got home!! Zane did FABULOUS on the trip...he had a hard time adjusting to a new place, new sleeping arrangement, new time zone, new people...but for a hard core routined almost 2 year old; he did great!

The flight to Atlanta was pretty uneventful (thanks to GOD & the guy sitting next to us)! There were no empty seats on this flight, so Zane was in my lap or standing on the seat (while I sat on the very edge) the entire flight! The little monkey was not a big fan of watching movies on the DVD player, but did enjoy pushing all of the buttons on the player, armrest, screen on the back of the seat and any others he could find. He played playdoh, cars and colored. We were blessed with a 50 some year old angel sitting next to us, this guy was so great with Zane...anytime Zane started to get antsy he pulled out a picture of his puppy for Zane to look at or started to color with Zane or just plain started talking with him, it was a great help. The monkey only slept about a 1/2 an hour the entire 5 hour flight, but all in all was very good.

Once in Atlanta we were met by my inlaws and then Aunt Carol flew in from Alaska shortly after us. We headed from the airport into Peachtree City and that's where the festivities began! We had many fun excurssions on this trip and I will post about them all, but in seperate postings so this one isn't too long and you don't get bored of reading!

Here are a few pictures from our first full day there! The first day was spent hanging out with family, swimming (thanks to the 80 degree weather) and enjoying delicious food at the reception.

Waiting to board the plane at Sea-Tac.

Being such a good boy on the flight over.

Swimming around in his little floaty; he did so good!

More fun in the pool!

The bride and groom! They were married in Cabo in June and waited until October for the party (Randall's family is from Belgium and Australia, so they had a ways to travel).

Until later...

Well, Zane and I are off to the airport in a couple hours, we are flying to Georgia for a family wedding. Josh was supposed to go, but with the new job, he cannot take the time off :( So its me and Zane flying solo on a 5 hour flight and the genius I was, was too cheap to buy him his own seat since he isn't two for 3 more weeks...seriously starting to regret that decision! Benedryl does not knock him out, or I'd have no problem giving him that...so I'm stuck with a busy 28lb toddler who I hope more than anything does not scream the entire (or any) of the flight! My main goal is to get there in one piece and to not receive any death threats along the way! And to quote my friend Colleen if I do get any fluff from people: "And tell anyone who dares comment or even look your way wrong, to go back to watching the movie, drink their coke and try not to choke on their peanuts."

I'll be in touch when we return next week!

A "had to be there" moment.

This is probably one of those "had to be there" moments, but still so funny and something I think should be documented!

This took place while Zane and I were visiting Christina and Brooklyn last night.

Christina to Zane: "Zane did you poop?"
Zane: "yeah"
Brooklyn takes Zane's hand and walks him into the bathroom (Christina and I are in another room nearby).
Brooklyn to Zane: "Zane, you need to go poop in the potty"
Zane: "Yeah, potty"
Brooklyn: "Zane, get on the big girl potty and I'll give you a treat"
Brooklyn: "Diaper off Zane"
Brooklyn: "Zane, do you want a treat?"
Zane: "yeah"
Brooklyn: "Diaper off Zane, diaper off"
Brooklyn: "Get on the big girl potty and go poop"

After that all happened about 10 minutes later Brooklyn comes running into the room we were in with her pants and diaper completely off and says "we want to take a bath now", Zane comes running in with his pants around his ankles and attempting to remove his poopy diaper by himself. Needless to say, I cleaned Zane's diaper up and in the tub the went and played.

The Magic Machine.

Our Nebulizer arrived at around 4 today! I'm sort of sad that I'm so excited about a machine to help my little guy breathe better, I wish he could just breathe perfectly fine on his own...but since sometimes he can't...I'm excited to have this machine around to help him out!

I'm amazed at how much 7-10 mins of this "moke" (i.e. smoke as he calls it) blowing in his face makes such a huge difference on how he acts for a few hours after. He's sleeping peacefully right now and I hope that lasts all night and we can get started on tomorrow; a new day!

Getting his first home treatment.

The following pictures are Zane about 1/2 hour after the treatment, he's playing, happy and back to being my little monster; I love it!!

Hello Fall = Hello Doctor's Visits

My poor little guy gets hit hard when he gets sick, it can never just be a common cold like most of us get. As many of you have read before he has "cold induced" Asthma and its come back with a vengence today. He started with the dreaded croupy cough yesterday, so I in turn started him on his inhalers right away. This morning after 2 doses of his inhalers daycare called me at work asking if she could give it to him again b/c he was having a tough time breathing. I told her no, that I would come get him since he just had 2 doses an hour before I knew I wasn't supposed to give him more for a few more hours. I brought him into the clinic where his oxygen level was at 92 (should be 98-100), he's been as low as 90 though, so I wasn't too concerned. The doc immediately put him on a breathing treatment (nebulizer machine) which he hates. To get him to calm down while I was giving him the treatment I just started singing to him any song I could think of, I ran out of "kiddie" songs that I knew all of the words to, so I moved onto Christmas songs, haha! Must've worked though, he fell right asleep and took the rest of the treatment like a champ! Oh, and the doc found the kiddo has an ear infection too (1st ever, not bad for almost being 2)!

We are now the proud owners of a Nebulizer machine for the house, that will save us on co-pays having to go into the doctor each time he needs one. I was hoping we wouldn't get to the point where we had to actually own our own machine, but I'm guessing we are to that point. The snazy new machine will be delivered around 2 today.

I've come to really appreciate health insurance! Health insurance is like most insurances, you hope you never have to use them, but you are so thankful you have it when you need it. This machine is only costing me $17 (and that's a purchase, not a rental; full price is $90). All of his meds today were a whopping $62, but could've/would've been a lot worse w/o insurance.

Now, please GOD let him get better before our flight this Friday! I am happy this happened on Monday and not Thursday, I'll tell you that much! Think good thoughts for our little man.

All tuckered out on the drive home from the doctor's office today.

The goods!

Bowling.

Josh, Zane and I met up with one of Josh's co-workers and his wife to go bowling Friday night. It was a lot of fun, but I think Zane had the most fun out of everyone! This is definitely something we'll take him to do again sometime!
