Rattlesnake Lake

We headed out to Rattlesnake Lake this afternoon to do a little kayaking.  This was our first family kayaking adventure of the year, our first as a family of 4 (Landon has never been before) and Zane's first time on his very own kayak!  As per the usual, Landon had zero fear and just wanted to jump into the water any chance he could!  Zane was a little nervous at first and it took a lot of coaxing from daddy to help ease his nerves, but he finally gave it a shot and loved it!  For safety reasons, we had Zane's kayak on a tow rope behind Josh's boat, but he did all of his own paddling!  Hoping we can get out again very soon - com'n sunshine, stick around for awhile!

Speech Re-Eval

Landon had his re-evaluation for his little speech delay today. He has made leaps and bounds lately!! He still has a delay, but she is confident he will catch up just fine. We were told he was doing too well to qualify for on going therapy (which is good news) and to have him re-evaluated again between 3-3 1/2 to make sure he's closer to where he should be.

Swimming

Zane is really making some progress in his swim lessons. After a good pep talk from daddy tonight, he was ready to hit the pool running!! They end next week and sadly the next session filled up too fast, so we will hit the pool on our own to practice and then get signed up for next round as soon as its available.

Endo Check-up

Zane had his regular 3 mos check up at Children's yesterday. It was our first time going to the Bellevue clinic. We are sold on going there every time now! Very convenient and our favorite provider is there! His doc filled out all of his medical forms for school, gave us some suggestions for some dosage changes to help with his numbers even more and asked us to do 2 different fasting days to really get a grip on his basal rate needs. So this wknd Zane will be doing 2 1/2 day fasts! He's done it before and did fine, but still hate that he needs to do them at all. He had his regular A1c and it went down, from 7.8 to 7.6, I was one happy substitute pancreas! Goal for his age is less than 8, so we are doing great...but as always I am striving for even lower!!

Took the boys to a new park today - it was an awesome park!  Snagged a few cute pics.  Plan on going back and taking better pics - great location for some fun pictures!

3-2-1 Bounce Party

The boys were invited to a birthday party Saturday afternoon at 3-2-1 Bounce - they had a blast of course!  I sure wish I had the energy these kids have!

Bike Rodeo

The city of Snoqualmie puts on a "Bike Rodeo" for kids every year and we were fortunate enough to attend this year!  The Bike Rodeo was started due to a couple of kids from the area who were killed while riding their bikes and not wearing helmets.  At the rodeo they check all kids' helmets to make sure they fit properly and if they don't, the give you a new one (for free).  All kids' bikes are checked out and have folks from bicycle shops on site with their skills and tools who will fix your bike to make it safe on the spot if needed.  There are have different courses set up for the kids to ride through and police officers there teaching the kids how to bike across a street safely, or over a driveway etc.  It was a really neat event - sad the reason why it was started, but very neat for the kids.  We all enjoyed ourselves!

This is NOT something ever want to see on Zane's CGM (continuous glucose monitor) - the LOW means his blood sugar is under 30 (was actually 34 when we did a blood check), the double arrows down mean that he's dropping very quickly.  Thankfully there were plenty of medics on site because we almost needed on and I'm not kidding.  Zane was acting fine for the most part, but we were having a hard time getting his blood sugar up quick.  After 3 juice boxes and 2 twizzlers, he was finally at 109.  Was a little dicey there for a few mins!  As always, he's a trooper though!
