1st Block Party of 2014

Along with our neighbors we had our first Block Party of 2014 yesterday {Sunday}!  It was a great time had by all!  Many drinks, many laughs, great food and even some good ol' rain!  The rain didn't stop any of us from having a great time!  The kids all had a blast and the parents continued their fun after the kids went to bed :)

I've said it before and I'll say it again and again, it is so awesome to be around so many great people in our neighborhood.  These folks are not just our neighbors, but are our friends and we are so happy to be where we are right now.

Young Author Night

It was Young Author Night at Zane's school tonight!  He's been looking forward to this for awhile.  I on the other hand had no idea what it was about - had never heard of it before.  Apparently, our little kiddos were practicing becoming authors this year in Kindergarten and wrote THREE books on their own!  One of their books was written and published on the iPad which apparently is very cool and they are the first class in the district to do so!

Three kids were chosen to read their iPad book to the class and all of the parents - Zane was one of them!  I am always amazed at how poised he is up in front of a crowd - doesn't phase him at all!

After the three chosen kids read their books each kid was given their stack of books that they wrote with an award!  Everyone enjoyed cookies and punch and goofing off!  It was such a cute night.  I am so sad that Kindergarten is coming to an end - Zane was really blessed with a wonderful teacher and wonderful classmates.  The bar has been set very high for next year!

Siblings were invited to sit with the Kindergarteners during the "show" - Landon couldn't have been more proud and excited to sit by his big brother.  He was in awe down there with the big kids.  Every time Zane would raise his hand - Landon would raise his.  Every time the kids would break out into laughter - Landon would break out into a fit of giggles - cutest thing.

Swim Lessons Cont'd

We signed both boys up for lessons this time around!  Landon didn't go tonight due to the flu (and he's spending time with grandma & papa tonight) - but Zane was eager to get into the water!  Zane has a real fear of the water, so it's taken him a long time to get somewhat comfortable with it.  He did so good tonight!  You can tell that he really wants to swim - I think this is his year to get it!  I can't wait to watch him over the next few weeks!

Team Zane {2014}

We had another successful year for Team Zane and Beat the Bridge.  I'm amazed every year how much our friends and family still are willing to do for us and make our lives a little easier and help us have a great team!  We truly are blessed.  This year was extra special for Zane, both of his teachers and two of his classmates came out to celebrate the little man - he was thrilled!

This was the first year that Zane ran the 1 mile and thankfully many of his buddies wanted to run too!  I knew he was excited to run - he and I had done a couple training runs and he couldn't get enough of it. What I didn't know - was that this kid was FAST!  He and one of his buddies Bashir ran an 8 minute mile!  Holy crapola!  Not sure who's running DNA he got, but it sure wasn't his dad or I's!

It was great to see the new Husky stadium - beautiful!  Landon was nice enough to christen the field for them by up-chucking his breakfast all over it.  Poor kid.  We knew he wasn't feeling well, we just didn't know it was that sort of not feeling well.  He is such a little trooper.  He was so sick all of yesterday, never cried or complained once.  Hit the bowl or bag (in the car) every time.  Heartbreaking as a parent to watch your child feel so terrible and know there is nothing you can do about it.  Thankfully he is on the mend and doing much better today.

Now for the photo dump that I know you've been waiting for :)

So glad one of his teacher took a picture of this for me on the walk.

Superstar Week

Zane's Superstar Week is coming to an end - he really has enjoyed it!  We've loved having Barkley around - he's almost become one of the family; sadly, he must be returned to school tomorrow :)

Everyday this week there was a special activity for Zane at school:

{Monday} - his teacher traced his body onto butcher paper and he got to paint on his clothes!
{Tuesday} - he was supposed to pick a friend to cut out his paper person, but was home sick.
{Wednesday} - he was double Superstar - he was able to make up for Tuesday and he picked his friend Taylor to help him cut out his paper person.  I asked him why he picked her and he said "because she's nice", haha.  He was also interviewed by his class and given compliments by his class.
{Thursday} - I came to class to read his favorite book to his friends "I'll Always Love You"!
{Friday} - he turns Barkley back in and his teacher will read his journal on what he's been doing at our house all week, then the next person will enjoy him for the next week!

It's been a lot of fun!
