Super Bowl Parade

Today did not turn out as originally planned...but it still turned out to be a great day!  I pulled Zane out of school today to surprise him (although told him last night) and take him on the bus downtown to the Seahawks Super Bowl Parade - a once in a lifetime experience - the Hawks will never win their first Super Bowl again; this is an epic moment!

We headed to the bus at 7:45 a.m. (parade was due to start at 11 - although didn't until after noon).  We waited and waited and waited in the 21 degree weather.  Bus after bus just drove right past the line of people waiting because they were filled to capacity.  Every once in awhile one would stop and 1 or 2 people would get on...but it was a rare occasion.  After 90 minutes of waiting I gave Zane the choice to continue to wait and hope to get on one or go home and watch it on TV in the warm house and then do something else fun later.  He originally wanted to wait - so we waited a little longer.  Then we decided that we'd wait for 2 more busses and if neither of them had room, we'd head home.  The two busses came and went completely full.  So we started the .5 mile walk back to our car!  He was such a trooper; not one time complaining.

Although he looks very unhappy in this picture...he was just annoyed with me taking pictures!

Once back to our car we heard on the radio that if you were across the I-90 bridge by 8:30 (it was now past 9); you'd have a hard time making it in time - it was absolute gridlock on the freeways and all over downtown.  We cranked up the heat and tried to defrost ourselves a bit (which turned out to be easier said than done - were were cold to the bone).

We got back home and turned on the fireplace and turned on the parade and waited and waited for it to start - once it did...we realized even more how glad we were that we weren't down there.  Although, it was peaceful, it was chaotic.  I don't think we would've been anywhere where Zane would've been able to see; finding a bathroom for him would've been a nightmare and finding a bus back home would've been worse than finding a bus there I believe.  Although it would've been great to be there in person; it was great to be with my first born all day out of the crowds too!

We really did enjoy watching the parade on TV though - such an awesome experience for Seattle.

After a couple hours of TV watching - we headed up to Starbucks for a cake pop; his choice for his treat for the day!  The worst part about getting a treat that he wants so bad...is waiting the stupid 15-20 minutes between receiving his insulin and getting to enjoy his desired treat.

But once that timer goes off and he's able to eat - he LOVES it!

After Starbucks, we ran a few errands, picked up Landon from daycare and headed back home! Although the day did not turn out as planned - we had a great day together and I wouldn't have traded it for the world!

Had no idea that this little guy could do this...

Super Bowl Champs 2014

WOW!  What a game.  I really don't even know what to say.  I am still in shock.  It's still very surreal that the SEAHAWKS have won a Super Bowl.  We are so happy - Seattle is so happy!  It was long overdue and we deserved this win!!

Big thank you to the Nilsson's and the Wieser's for coming over and celebrating with us - we had a GREAT time!  So much fun was had by all!!!

Sledding

We headed up to Snoqualmie Pass yesterday afternoon with our friends the Bergman's and took a few runs down the sledding hill!  We all had a great time.  Landon especially - it's amazing how much he's grown over the last year.  Last year he wanted nothing to do with the snow or sledding...we had to literally force him to have fun and ride down the hill with Josh or I.  This year...he was all about doing it himself!

Blue Friday

I'm a little sad that today is the last Blue Friday of the season - but I am so pumped that the Hawks are playing in the Super Bowl in 2 days!!  Still seems so surreal!  It's our turn folks - so watch out!

Blue Friday at work today!

This was just a portion of the blue at work today - not everyone could get away for a picture!

Due to some illness' going on at Zane's after school care - I picked him up today - he liked showing his Blue pride back at the office!

GO HAWKS!!!!  DO THIS!!!

Basketball

The boys had their first ever basketball practice/game on Saturday - they were both very excited for it. Turns out one loved it and one hated it...I'll let you figure out who was who!

I'm sure glad we already paid for the 6 weeks!!  Next time, we'll do a "trial" class I think!
