Pumpkin Patch

We headed out to the pumpkin patch last night since the weatherman (who's always right, right?!?) was predicting it was going to be our last "nice" day for quite awhile! Zane had fun checking out all of the pumpkins and Landon enjoyed touching everything he could get his hands on. He was very curious about everything and as you will be able to see from the pictures, very serious about his time at the patch too! Probably not the best idea to head down right before his bedtime, but oh well, he did pretty well! Now daddy has the fun chore of digging out all of the guts and seeds of our 45lb pumpkin!

Absolutely impossible to get Zane to do a "real" smile these days and impossible to get a picture with both boys looking at the camera!

3 Month Follow-Up

Zane had his 3-month follow-up at Children's last Friday with his Endocrinologist and I'm happy to report he's doing great! His A1C went down from a 7.9 to a 7.2 and that makes this substitute pancreas a.k.a mama a happy camper!

The only little bummer of our visit was that we were informed that Zane is still on too little of a dose of Levimir (long acting insulin) to go on the pump we were considering (Omnipod). I am grateful that he is still on little doses don't get me wrong, but was looking forward to trying the pump route! We just aren't willing to consider any other pump at this time, so we will just wait and in due time his dose will go up and we'll talk about the pump again! For now, we'll be happy that he's on such tiny doses still and happy that we are doing such a good job on injections!

He looks forward to this white board more than anything every time we come, haha.

Museum of Flight

A couple of weekends ago (a little behind on my blogging) Josh took Zane to the Museum of Flight! Josh was able to get in free with his Boeing ID and lucky for us, that was just our price! I wasn't able to go with them as I had another friend's birthday party to attend, but from what I heard they had a great time. Zane came home with some pretty cool model airplanes, even one that is set up to fly around his bedroom!

Vampires and...a Tigger?!

We were invited to my good friend Brenda's daughter Kennedi's 5th Birthday party last weekend! Kennedi is normally very much a girlie girl, loves her tiara's, nail polish and pink everything, but she decided to step outside of the jewelry box for this year's birthday and have a Vampire themed party! Kids and adults alike were encouraged to dress up in their best vampire attire! Zane didn't own anything vampire like, so we made sure to get him something to help fit in!

Sickos

It should be against the law for two children in the same house to be sick at the same time when there is only one parent at home with them in the evenings!!

Zane had been running some higher than usual blood sugars over the last week and I couldn't really figure out why (then again, Diabetes isn't a game that plays by the rules). I tried making a couple of adjustments here and there, but nothing seemed to really do the trick. I received my answer as to why this was happening on Tuesday at 3 p.m. when daycare called. They informed me his blood sugar was fine (it had been high at 11:30 before lunch), but that Zane was "upset and had a 101.5 fever"...answer was...virus! Fun! Josh's dad was at the house, so he ran to get Zane while I started to drive home. I got home, gave him some Advil and had him lounge on the couch for a bit. Within 3 hours of giving him the Advil, the fever was gone and he was 100% back to his normal self...accept for one little thing...his blood sugars. Holy crap, he has never had this high of blood sugars, not even the day he was diagnosed. I checked for keytones multiple times and thankfully he never developed any!! He ran high through the night and through yesterday, but today he was having dream blood sugars...I'm hoping that means his virus is gone! Now, I'm dreading his A1c next Friday when we head to his endo appt...ugh, I thought this would be a good one too, darn illness throwing in the outliers!

UGH:

Yesterday, I went to pick Landon up at daycare around 11 to bring him back to my work for his 9 month well-child visit. I walked in and Tracey informed me that he had a fever...here we go again! Landon's well-child visit was turning into a sick-child visit! He has had this terrible cough for at least 3 weeks, but otherwise completely fine (until yesterday), he hadn't had any other symptoms and was rather happy (until yesterday). After a quick look-over, it was determined that Landon had a double ear-infection, poor kid! Doesn't help that he's teething right now too and completely miserable. For his cough, dr said to try Zane's nebulizer. Landon was pretty intrigued with the nebulizer at first and then completely pissed off about it! I have only done it once, because it didn't seem to do any good and he isn't having any trouble breathing or anything. His cough is actually (knock on wood) getting better over the last couple of days, yay!

Lets hope we are all on the mend now!

9 Months Old

Landon,

Its hard to believe that you have been outside in this crazy world for as long as you were inside of my tummy! Pretty different out here huh? Not as warm and cozy perhaps? You seem to be adjusting just fine!

You are definitely starting to show little signs of jealousy! You aren't a fan of not being the center of my attention! How dare I come in and talk to your brother before I do you! You start to flap your arms and shouting out a loud "eh, eh, eh" until I come over to pick you up! One day you'll learn that your brother needs a little extra help from mommy sometimes - there are things in his life that need to be monitored at all times and sometimes those things take precident over your wanting to be picked up right than and there! I promise that I love you equally though!

You are still a little chunky monkey and although the doc says you "weigh a little more than you need to", no one is concerned about you! If you'd ever learn to crawl, I know you'll slim right down...but until then, I'll keep squeezing those chubby little adorable thighs of yours! Speaking of crawling...you want to do it so bad...just can't seem to figure it out! You just can't figure out how to get your knees up. I hate to laugh, but just have to at times, because you look like a fish that just jumped out of its bowl when you are on your tummy and want to go somewhere; you just flap your legs and arms while letting out a squeal to let us know that you are not going anywhere, but want to! One of these days you'll get it buddy and we'll be wishing you were still a fish who escaped its bowl! I think your brother wants you to crawl more than anyone, but I don't think he realizes just how much that is going to turn his world upside down, you will be into all of his things...I can hear it now!!

Not too many new tricks this month, but one thing you do love to do is reach down and make sure you are still a boy every time you get a diaper change...I promise you, that little treasure will not go away honey, so can we stop checking for it?!

You still love every food you can get your grubby little hands on! I have yet to find one you don't like. You are starting to prefer table food more, but need to learn how to gum that stuff a little more or grow some more teeth...because it doesn't do to well going down whole! You can now feed yourself the little puffs or Cheerios we throw onto your tray to quiet you down while working on getting dinner...that's a fun new trick!

You have also started to say "dadadadadadada"...hopefully next month I can report that you are saying "mama"!!
